extenders for dually's
Driving a 2011, 4wd, 3500 Dodge Lariame, dual rear wheels. Anyone use permanent extenders for checking rear tire pressure? It is a real pain to check the rear pressures. Can not find extenders for the 2011 Dodge. It is equipped with plastic wheel covers and plastic hub. Any Ideas?

I have the stainless steel mesh on the inside wheels and the solid stainless u shape on the outside.I also have the steel stems on all the wheels. The extenders work great but you have to make sure they are screwed on tight so they won't leak. Have had them about 8 years.

I bought http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...extenders/7249 from Campingworld, along with the U shaped ones. They are a little short though, so take a tape measure and verify your length.
My Dodge has the rubber valve stems on the rims, so they do move around. I will have them replaced with metal ones soon.

They are a pain to fill . went to CW and picked up a set and when I tried to put them on my Ram I hit a snag with those plastic wheel covers, I lost my recipt so return is not possable, so there they sit, unused in my office.
I did go to Napa and picked up a long neck air gage. now I need to get rid of those rubber stims.

I heard from those that have tried the extenders that they tend to leak and thus you are down the road with a low tire in the middle of no where. I went to a auto store and got a tire inflator with long hose and long metal tube to the inflator with a sliding guage like we use at the fire station to fill the apparatus tires. Works great. Reaches the back stubby metal stem that Ford uses with ease.

Another thing you must also remember when you put extenders on. the centrifical force will cause them to do strange things to the rubber stims, they do add extra weight to the existing stims.

We have stopped using the valve stem extenders on our Duallys, including those on our Dodge D3500's and our Semi Trucks. Over the years we had too many times when the valve stem extenders caused leaks and tire problems. Get a good set of extended tire pressure gauges designed and sold for big trucks at Truck Stops.
