Dimplex Electric Fireplace recall

The recall is for units with remote controls. I personally have not seen a remote in a Keystone product, but FYI. I received the recall by USPS yesterday. My unit is not on the list.

I have a 2009 3605RL Montana with a fireplace with a remote for it. So they do have them.

Boje, thanks for the post to check a couple things on my fireplace.

First, my unit's model number is not on the recall list (I don't have a remote so maybe that's why). I had to remove the facia by removing the screw hole plugs, then the screws using a square bit driver. Then I had to remove two screws on either side that held the FP in place. Then sliding the unit out I found the model number on the top right rear label.

The second thing is while I had it out I checked for another past posted problem from members - burnt connectors. With the fireplace out, if you remove only the screws on the sides and back of the top cover panel the top comes off which holds the circular fan, some circuit boards and a white connector panel with about 6 wires. Others' posted pictures of the white connectors having burn marks, some so bad, they smoked or came loose. My unit look clear and white so my unit did not have that problem. Please note that we don't RV in very cold weather or use the rig as often as many others but it's still something to check.

Now to put it all back together...
