Goliad State Park Goliad Texas

Spent two nights at Goliad State Park and must say I was surprised. This state park is located just south of Goliad Texas and has alot of Texas History associated with it. The Park has two areas one with all pull through sites with sewer hookup and another area that is a parking lot style sites. The outer ring has a grass area, with fire ring, grill and Picnic table. This area only has water and electric. All sites are large enough for a Monty and met a couple of other Monty owners during the stay. The park disadvantage is it is right off a Major Highway and is a bit noisy. The history and the old mission onsite makes this a really nice area for those who like roaming around old missions.

Did you happen to visit the other mission called La Bahia about a mile south of Goliad SP on the other side of the San Antonio River? It also has much Texas history associated with it. If not, here is a link that will give info about it:

We have stayed at Goliad several times. Never noticed the traffic noise. Don't know if they still do, but they did offer a weekly discount for camping. There is a really nice walk/bike path into town. The old town square is pretty neat. There is a cafe on the square that has great pie, I think it is the Blue Quail Deli. We were surprised at how much history there was in that area.

If you are going to stay there a while, stock up on necessities before you going or plan on a trip into Victoria, which is is also a nice place to visit.

Yes we did make it to the other mission down the road and they still use the chapel for mass. We got there a little late and did get inside the mission so that will make for a nice revisit. The Golid downtown area is really nice and the people were really friendly and the food at the Blue Quail Cafe was awesome. The pies were to die for.
