Ford uses compacted graphite for their engines. Industry news for all of 2018 reported that ford sold 909330 trucks, gm's Silverado line 585581, dodge 536980, and gmc 219554. That is a lot of trucks.

They are, and I don't think the Ford has changed from the CP4

We can't believe what the manufacturer puts out. If the normal 20% is used for the pin weight, that means the PW for the 37k towed vehicle will be 7,400 lbs.

I pull 30k gooseneck with an excavator no issues. These trucks do tow more than just campers, plus 4wd can be a bonus. This class truck, any brand, is popular with contractors, race car crews, horse transport and campers. We have 4 duallies in the shop and we use them for everything.

Lot of difference between pin weight of a 5er and pin weight of a gooseneck construction or implement trailer. The 5er carries a lot of weight over the elevated front section and some of that nearly directly over the pin. The gooseneck construction/implement trailer carries its weight behind the elevated front section. So the pin weight percentage of total weight is considerably different.

I agree, most gooseneck trailers I've towed were set up in the 15 - 20% of gross trailer weight on the pin. Most goosenecks don't have usable space over the neck like fifth wheels.

If you want to know what truck to get...go to Elkhart, I’d. and watch what damn near all the new trailers are hauled to he dealerships with. Then buy it.

We live near two major highways, one east/west and one north/south, and both carry a lot of RVs of all types. And from casual observation I would say more than half the longest 5ers including the “high end” ones are behind SRWs and many of those behind 250/2500 pickups.

They are going to buy and use the cheapest of the 3 hands down and that is not going to give you a heads up on the one to buy. You buy the one YOU like not what cowboy Dan can afford.
