Black Tank Valve not closing

I left the annual rally in Goshen and at the next campground I discovered the black tank valve was not closing (YUCK!). I have a 3700RL (2012) and the black tank valve is connected via a cable. The valve handle was moving to easy and it was obvious the rod/handle was slipping and not moving the valve properly. I crawled under the Monty, removed some of the bottom covering and discovered the cable has a clamshell construction and it was slipping. I was able to slip it to the side and get to the valve stem and close it. After multiple fills and flushes, I removed the four bolts that connect the valve to the black tank. Once removed, I could reseat the clamshell under the mounting hardware and secure it back into place. I'm a happy camper again. Not really that hard a job... Just yucky

Terry,
Hope all is good for you two!
Try pouring some cooking oil in your empty tank occasionally, all tanks, it will lubricate the valves.
When you guys pass by give us a call.

You're a better man for tackling such a tough job.

I join the club of non closing black valve since about 2 mo after i bought it, figured their was a piece of tissue jammed in the valve, I use mass water when flushing, chemicals, Tank flushing, EVERYTHING now I at least got it to close ALMOST all the way where it will hold water for the most part ,do not feel like taking on that project so I just put a extra valve on the end of the pipe....Good Enough
