3400RL Dining and living room mods

My DW decided she wanted more room by the dining table and in the living area. So.... we moved the sofa to the rear, removed one recliner entirely and rotated and repositioned the dining table so that one long side is next to the super slide outside wall, Positioned the top (adjustable so that the table legs were toward the slider wall as far as possible and positioned the flip out extension toward the rear of the RV. 4 can still eat comfortably at the table with plenty of chair room. So now we have the dining table, the lamp table and one recliner in the Super Slide. Wow, what a difference. We had 5 regular chairs and have removed one of them which now can be shared between the computer desk and a 4th eating guest which doesn't occur all that often. Really opens up the aisle way to the living room too between the dining table and the kitchen "L" counter. All can be returned to normal factory configuration w/o any noticeable changes. Significantly reduced weight as well.

Now working on replacing 27" tube TV with Flat Panel LCD HDTV. That will reduce weight dramatically too. Haven't worked out all the details on this mod though.

Dean, we've moved the chairs and recliners also. Replacing the TV is easy. We bought a 32" SONY LCD. Once your existing TV is out, you'll find that if you tilt the 32" one slightly, it will go in the opening and then wiggle it forward. We found that we'd have to go with the SONY without the side speakers, that one wouldn't fit.

Norm,

I installed our 32" Sony Bravia HDTV in the Late 2006 3400RL today. Didn't try to get it inside the orignal 27" Tube TV opening. Just ran a mounting surface out the front of the floor of the TV cabinet 6 1/2". Integral Sony TV stand sets fine on that surface and the back of the TV snuggles right up against the opening with the top of the TV about an inch higher than the opening. Looks almost factory installed. Added the DirecTv H20 HD receiver using a 1 LNB dish then a 3 LNB dish. All working as expected. Now the decision to see if I want to try aligning a 5 LNB dish in mobile applications to get all the HD channels.
