It really wouldn't take much of a bump or dip to cause the height of one of these things to change a couple of inches. Just a thought.

Isn't it amazing what we learn AFTER we buy one of these things? Prospective Monty buyers would do well to join this forum BEFORE purchasing their first 5er. Thanks for this forum...it's a lifesaver for sure!
That is so true, even if you've owned a 5'th wheel before. I never even thought about a Low Profile AC unit. I just knew that it was wired for the bedroom AC, and we wanted it. I didn't really realize how much higher the Mountaineer was until later. It's 13'1" parked, and will go up about 2" on the truck. I have changed the 235/80 ST tires for 235/85 LT tires, but I don't think that 1/2" will make any differance

I am still waiting to get the official measurements on our rig. Gotta go to the mini-storage this weekend for the generator exercise monthly routine with battery charging top off, and hopefully can talk DW into accompanying me there to finally get the measurements. Spring camping season has officially been scheduled to start next weekend!! Yayyyy!

Bingo and Cathy - Our adventures begin in the hills of WV. We are blessed by our 2014 3850FL Big Sky (previous 2011 3750FL and 2007 3400RL) that we pull with a 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic DRW CC dually.

Ended up pulling the plug on the Keystone full profile 2nd AC. A hearty "thank you" to Greg for the info on the Penguin. Doing a bit of research confirms I'm probably better off getting a low profile as they are fairly easy to install. The dealer wants me to buy a Coleman from them. I'm going to do some more looking around, plenty of time. Even with the low profile up front, it appears we are going to be pushing 13 to 13.1. plus or minus the TV height variables.

That's what my dealer did to me. Sold me on the brand they dealt which was Carrier. Coleman are fine units, but it will not work with your wall thermostat and pre-installed ceiling temp sensor like the Dometic models.

Ditto the not working with your T-stat, needs to be a Dometic product. We put the Penguin on the front of our Monty. Activated Zone 2 on the T-stat and the two units can be run independently and even at different temps.
