blue boy vs thetford

We are looking for a 25 - 30 gallon unit. Does anyone have either of these models? Are there any advantages to purchasing one over the other?

I have a blue boy that I purchased new several years ago. I carried it around for about two years and never used it and finally hung it on the wall in my garage. If your travels take you to norther Indiana this summer and your still in the market for one, I'll make you a great deal on it.

I'm like Don. Bought one several years ago and have yet to use it. Have stayed in S.P. for several days and never filled my tanks as I opt to use their showers just so I don't have to use the portable tank. Black tank can last two people for better than a week. Jim

Had a 10 gal Blueboy- It had an accident and was replaced with a 25 gal Thetford- The Thetford is easier to use although it requires more storage area- We are full-timers and use the tank whenever we don't have sewer hookups- It's much easier to dump using the tank and not having to hookup and haul the unit to the dump station and back- To each his own- Do what works for you- JMHO- Don

Aw shucks. From the subject title I thought we were talking about Gainsborough's "Blue Boy" painting . . .

We have a 30 gal blue boy and do not use it much as we do full hooks 95% of the Time. We do use it at some of the large RV rallies that do not offer Full Hooks. Depends of your travel style. They are handy. We haver had a problem with the blue boy.

We have the 36 gallon Thetford. Store it under camper, behind the spare tire mount. It fits there pretty well and is up high enough to avoid the ground. In fact it fits so well it hasn't come off in two years.

We have a 25 gal Blue Boy that we don't use and will sell for $75. However, it's in the shed on our lot in Lakewood, NM and we won't be back there until the first part of April.

We have owned a 25 gallon blue boy for 12 years and have been pleased with how it has lasted. A friend has a Thetford and it lasted about two years. The tanks themselves on both units seem equally durable, but the hose and fittings on the Thetford seem to be a source of problems. I do not use mine a lot and I am glad I bought the 25 gallon unit, manipulating 30+ gallons of fluid is not fun! So regardless of the brand I recommend get no bigger than you need.

If I was buying one it would be the blue boy. Had a Thetford and where the wheel attaches to the tank is a weak spot. Cannot replace it if it comes loose. Ours was sitting full for a couple days last fall and the weight caused it to collapse.

We have the Blue Boy and use it occasionally. I did take off the standard plastic wheels and replaced them with large Harbor Freight wheels,at three dollars a piece, well worth it. I can now pull that tank with weight it ,by hand, over mostly anything.

Blue Boy here. I have been using them for five years now twice a week and no problems. When I say them I had a 15gal one and sold it and bought a 32gal.
