Where the heck are the door handles

I just cannot for the life of me comprehend the reasoning behind the changes to the screen doors on this new rig. If the screen door is closed, there is no ready means to slide the middle slider to access the door lever to open it. The only way to do it is to slide the slider by using your fingers against it which since the slider is now clear leaves obvious fingerprint smears across it. From the inside, you have to open the slider in order to have anything there to grab onto to close the screen door. Surely, the designers did not expect you to grab the small round puck device that at least allows you to slide the slider from the inside to close the door??Odd and odder?? I see some kind of a mod is necessary, anybody come up with a solution already to save my brain power??

That's the reason why we didn't buy that model, it was that door handle thing . Would one of those black door latches with the grommet you drill a hole for work? Camping World has them and they are inexpensive. We have one and it works great. hope you are enjoying your new rig.

I thought about that Jim, but the middle part of the door is clear now instead of white. I may resort to that, unless some MOCer comes up with a fix. May have to invent something oout of PVC????

Ours came with rubber bumpers stuck to the plastic so you could slide it open. Maybe something the dealer did.

Mike,
We have the rubber bumper on the inside of the door, but not the outside. I believe I prefer the handle that was actually molded into the door frame. If your hands are wet or slippery, there is no way you are going to grab that round rubber puck and pull the door closed. I still see no way of closing the slide from the outside??
Carol,
I am having big-time technical difficulties on the picture posting. DW has new laptop without the software (Canon Digital camera with proprietary software of course). Work laptop had me blocked from installing software this weekend. Hopefully get the situation resolved today and get back to posting pictures very soon!!!

We have the same set up as Bingo on our 2010 3455, very annoying but one of the things I just haven't got around to yet. Perhaps just installing another one of those clear rubber things on the outside is all that is needed. Great thread and we eagerly await the outcome.

I misunderstood. I solved the problem with a white plastic drawer pull that I got at the HW store or Lowes. I fits horizontally in the door frame above the plastic slider. I'll try to get a picture for you.

That might work for pulling the door shut but still won't solve the problem of no handle on the plexiglass slide. Maybe some double back tape on your fingertips might help .

We are getting there, nonetheless, one solution down, looking for others,
