Refrigerator fan

I was under the impression that Keystone included an external fan behind the frig that improved the airflow over the coils under certain conditions.I haven''t seen any reference to a fan in the Keystone literature and a forum search didn't turn up any hits.

Anyone know the answer ??
Thanks

I believe the fan is installed by the refrig. manufacturer not Keystone. It may be in your owners manual for that.
You can look behind the refrig. near the top, and if your model has one you can see it.

The fan is installed on refig.s that are installed in slides. The top air vent is in the slide wall and not on top of the trailer therefor limiting air flow. There is a thermal switch on the cooling fins to turn on the fans when they get hot. Most of them are not working correctly and do effect refrigerator operation. Mine has two fans and the thermal switch failed, the refer would not get cold enough. The fan should come on after the cooling unit starts and you should hear the fans running.

My old Cougar (if a 2011 is old) had a fan on the fridge and the fridge was not in the slide. When I first got the rig I could hear it cycling on and off continuously. I called the dealer who at first said there was no fan on fridges that are not in the slides. It was only after I insisted that I had a fan that they contacted Keystone who confirmed that they were starting to put them in other units as well to improve circulation for the fridge coils.

Sometimes, depending on outside/inside temps, the fan would turn on and off continuously every few seconds and I was afraid there was a malfunction but Keystone said that was fine. Eventually they contacted me and said that they had a fix to stop the amount of cycling but also said that it would make the fridge slightly less efficient so I didn't do the modification.

Thanks for the replies. I thought I remembered hearimg a fan noise in the past, but not lately (even in south Florida). Looks like i need to remove the top access panel and look around a little.,

CB - my single fan didn't work so I purchased 2 fans at the local Meijer's for $5 each in a Fall sale. Attached both to top of coils to pull up air and evacuate at top......and it's made a big difference!
