Trailer Height

I have a 2011 Big Sky 3580RL with the two AC on the roof. Has anyone ever measured the overall height of this trailer? The dealer hand out has the height at 12'9". I am in the process of building a storage building for the trailer and want to be sure I get a building I can put the trailer into and have plenty of roof clearance. I want to have the building at least 22 feet wide so I can have the slides out if I need to use the trailer.

Frank...I just measured my 3580RL w/2 A/C's last week and it was 13'1". Just after I measured it I changed tires from the Marathons to BFG's so that might change the height a bit from there.

I have the Lippert 6 Point Leveling System and do know when hooking up to the TV the system on auto raises the trailer hitch pin about 2" above the TV hitch plate before lowering to locking on.

Ours measures 13'3". The door on the barn is 14' high.

It's been a while but I recall my rig was 12' 7". I don't have two A/Cs and I don't have a Big Sky. I really should remeasure and write it down.

I think NCFishers has the right idea. That's a good height for the doorway, then the ceiling has to be even higher to allow for raising the rig when hitching.

Remember to allow for the door itself if one is used. The door should not be so low that it inhibits the rig from being unhitched as well. My garage doors hang a little lower than the doorway, but the garage is designed for very low vehicles. I can't park my Truck inside because it's too long so I haven't even measured, but I do think the truck would fit in the garage height wise.

I would definitely measure more carefully in a worse case scenario for a trailer especially the height. My trailer and its 4 slides is under 16 feet wide so a 22 foot wide structure would be perfect to allow walk around area and storage cabinetry.

How's the phrase go and modified for this need? Measure twice, cut (or build) once.

It's NICE that you'll be able to have an enclosure for your Monty.

Ours is 13' 3" with a MotoSat dish on top. I recommend that you have at least 13' 6" door height and since 14' doors are common, go with fourteen. I would have the height of the building, if it were mine, at 20' so that I could get up on the roof of the Monty without having to resort to the Limbo.
