Sleep Number Mattress

We're considering a Sleep Number bed for our 3150RL. Does anyone have one and what are your thoughts about it? Will the regular 72" x 80" push to hard on the sink cabinet or will we have to go to the radius cut mattress?

I do not know about the fit of a sleep number mattress in your RV but I will say we bought a sleep number mattress for our home about three years ago and it is great. I had back surgery over 50 years ago and it still gives me problems from time to time so I set my side on the firm side and the wife likes the softer settings. I have several friends that have them and talked us into getting ours, money well spent, we love it. So does Ivan, our Rat Terrier.

We just recently put in a Sleep Number, we went with the radius corners and glad we did as I think there would have been to much pressure against the sink cabinet. We have the King, and so far love it, this winter will really tell the story. After spending three months in the Monty (Feb to May) we decided we wanted something better before spending 6 months this coming winter. It is pricey, but we intalled ourselves without any problems, very simple job. Biggest job was getting the old mattress out.

We have one in the stick house and love it. We bought the upgraded mattress when we got the Monty and DW put a tempurpedic topper on it. It works pretty well.

One thing to think about is the pressure that is built as you climb from sea level to 7000 feet. We had one rupture several years ago.

We likewise have a sleep number bed in our Monty. The wife and I love it.... To avoid any damages (ruptures). We travel with it deflated, then when we get to our spot, we set our numbers for comfort later on. Very easy and comfortable.

We've had the Comfortaire for going on 5 years now in two different rigs and love it. They make a curved radius bed for RV's as well. We have kept it at the inflation each of us likes and haven't worried when traveling through the rockies. Were told that the chambers are designed to withstand a great amount of pressure.

We have used the sleep number in the regular queen size in both of our Montanas. It fits just fine and you don't need special sheets for it... Wouldn't give it up for anything.

Thanks to all for your input. We tried laying on one at a local SN store yesterday and found it very comfortable. Only problem I see is the king is only available at CW and they have a "no-return policy" for bedding and a hefty $400 adder for the radius cut. We have decided to sleep on it (pun intended) and decide after our upcoming month-long excursion.

I have a Comfortaire in my house for 8 years. Just put one in my rig also. Comforaire came closer to the RV king size. I had to modify my platform to support the bed. I got the radius bed that hits the vanity with no problems. Go to http://www.comfortairedirect.com

We have one in the stick house and I do not like it, but DW does. I prefer the Monty stock one. JMO.

The bed in the new Big Sky we received a month ago is a great bed, we will not change it for anything else.

Frank, we thought the same, but after sleeping on the Monty mattress for 3 months we decided we wanted something better before spending 6 months this winter in the Monty.

The mattresses they put in RVs are cheap... they don't last long... of course we are full timing. We put a 4 inch topper which makes a little difference but we are looking into a sleep number. We have a king and would need the radius corner unless it can be deflated to accomodate the pressure.

Just to give you something else to think about, we considered the Sleep Number based on strong recommendations from friends. Plus we looked at a few others. In the end we bought a TempurPedic queen size (our 2nd TempurPedic) to go in our 2003 3655FL and are delighted with it. A few months later we upgraded to a 2010 3400RL which was delivered sized for a king. We asked to have the platform cut down and that they not install the factory-supplied mattress. The old queen fits with space to the side which, as it turns out, makes it a lot easier to make up the bed. Of course it means the new bed cover delivered with the 2010 doesn't fit, but we can live with that.

Whatever way you go, if you're someone who suffers with back pain, you need to have something that helps keep the pain away!

Btw, the TempurPedic is a pretty heavy mattress, yet the air springs that support the platform when you lift it are able to handle the load without closing from the extra weight.

We bought a Sleep Number bed at the Rally at the Daytona speedway in 2006. We purchased the "short queen" model so it was the same size as the existing platform. Camping World carries the short queen sizes and I also found them online. I put it in our 2007 3475RL and would not do without it.

We have the Americana bear bed. Same as the Sleep number but direct buy so a bit less expensive.regular queen in the 34300 fits OK. Just ordered one for the stick home.
