Furnace Reset

We were in Pensacola, FL in mid December with freeze warnings. We had already gone through a few cold nights in Jacksonville in early December, no problem with the water lines disconnected and the furnace on to warm the pipes and holding tanks. Then furnace stops working. Fan runs for 30 seconds and then shuts down. Sail had been replaced just 10 months earlier for same symptoms. Checked propane, reset switch on thermostat several times, cycled DC power switch in water compartment, all no furnace, so then moved on toward warmer Texas. Went to a dealer outside Houston and am told there is no problem. What!!! They made sure the wires had good solid connections and turned it on with no problem!!! Two days travel later, no furnace, same symptoms. I've been told these things are all computer controlled, so try one more thing. Find the fuse for the furnace in the control power panel, pull the fuse, wait 60 seconds, reinstall fuse, and everything has worked fine over the last two weeks. One more thing to try when your furnace goes out. Good luck.

A trick worth remembering (or adding to my "fix it" file)!

My furnace had similar symtoms but replacing the circuit board this week did the trick. Good timing as we are in Santa Clarita CA and it is snowing! Grapevine/I-5 is currently closed both directions until further notice. I wanna get warm!!

Had the same issue with our furnace. It would sometimes run, then sometimes not. It took a while, but I finally traced it down to a bad crimp connection on the circuit board. It was one of the "spade" connectors, that had a power wire running into AND out of it. You could NOT see any problem, but by "wiggling" (technical term) the wire, the fan on the furnace would turn on and off. Took care of it by replacing the connector and crimping it GOOD. No further problems.

Our furnace quit on Christmas night in Brookings Oregon on our first leg to mesa Arizona for the winter. Thank goodness for the fireplace and our electric blanket. When we got to Mesa at Orangewood Shadows, we called a service outfit and they determined that it was a loose wire and after paying the $80 service fee wenow have heat. It has been in the low 30's since arriving; not what we were expecting.
