Need a tire recommendation for 2009 2955...

After a $3500.00 repair from a Chinese Goodyear I am going to replace the remaining Goodyears. I need some recommendations for what is a good replacement. I'm thinking of going to a LT E rated tire, but not sure what size.

Also, what is a good tire pressure monitoring system?

Thanks in advance.

Here are two links you can look for your self and compare. As you can see I have a 2955RL, ether would be plenty of tire for your trailer. The Michelin is a bit more money and the Bridgestone is MADE IN AMERICA. I too will be deciding about the monitoring as I will replace tires this spring but I will be choosing one that will be installed inside the rim.

tww- How many miles did you have on your tires when the one failed? I have a 2009 2955 as well. Any signs of wear, blems, etc, prior to failure.
Happy hunting for some new rubber- Keith

I put the BF Goodrich Commercial T/A's on our rig last year after some extensive research. You will get different opinions on different tires. There are several good brands out there.

I put the Michelin XPS ribs on my 3075. Replaced the Missions with only about 5,000 miles on them before the had a chance to fail. Only have about 6,000 miles on the Michelins, but very satisfied so far.

Use the search function and you will find enough information on tires to read for a month. After reading much of it, and getting advice from a tire guy on this forum, I put Bridgstone Duravis 500's LT on my 3400. They would be fine on your rig as well. I have Michelin on my TV. I do not have a pressure monitoring system and I personally see no need for one. I check at the beginning of each trip and about every two hours during a trip.

I had about 5000 miles when the tire blew. Right rear, tore off body molding from there back to the door, bent the door frame and door. Also took out brake wiring.
I checked the pressure on all tires before leaving on my trip of about 800 miles, only made it 125. No more Chinese tires for me!

I just put 5 BF Goodrich Commercial T/A (LT235/85R16E1 120R B) tires. I couldn't find any reported failures on the Internet. They were $142.00 each ($172 with tax, mounting, balancing, etc).

BTW, I have had no problem with stock tires, about 6,000 miles on them, but to many war stories to press my luck any further. Tires look great when removed. My Monty just turned 1 year, and last trip out we saw a 2010 Monty head the other way on I77 with a shredded left front tire.

I have the Bridgestone Duravis tires on our rig and they have been on for three years and are serving us well. I also have the Pressure Pro monitoring system and wouldn't be without it. It saved us last year when we had a loss of pressure that showed up on the Pressure Pro System and we were able to pull into a tire shop for repairs. The aluminum wheel was cracked around the valve stem and it was spreading on the wheel. We called around and found a place that had wheels, though they were steel, and they delivered it to us a distance of 15 miles and didn't charge us shipping! All of that just to say we like the Pressure Pro System.

I also put the BF Goodrich Commercial T/A's on last year. Also have the Pressure Pro and would not be without it. 2 years ago, coming home from Florida, I picked up a 3" piece of steel in my left rear tire on the trailer. If not for the Pressure Pro, the tire would have lost air until it blew apart causing a lot of damage. The Pressure Pro alerted me of the air loss and showed the pressure as it was falling, letting me know that i had to stop as soon as possible.
