Are you plugged in to shore power? If not, your battery may be low of charge.

My slide stopped on me too. The fix?? ... turn the battery cutoff switch on/off about 5 times. Strange but true.

2002's didn't have battery cutoff switches unfortunately. I sooooooooooooooo wish we still had the old style pumps like my "2000" 2850RK had that had a manual pump built right into the reservoir with a removable handle as well as a switch right on the pump housing itself ... that pump's availability is long gone. Does the pump motor smell burnt? You might try using a jumper cable off the positive terminal of the battery directly to the pump motor ... that will eliminate the motor itself being faulty. The reason I mention this is you saying the switch right on the pump itself doesn't work. Perhaps the "trombetta" has gone out (3 terminal device on top of pump motor).

I can't remember back to my 2000 Montana exactly, but follow the red wire off the pump ... it should go towards the wall and be connected to an auto-reset breaker which in turn is connected to the battery. Check power on both sides of the breaker. These have been a problem to many.

Merv,

I had similar trouble on my former 1999 2850RK. There are 2 solenoids near the pump. One controls extension of the slides, the other retraction. As I recall a blue wire to one and green to the other. If one of the solenoids is bad you can reverse the leads to open or close the slides until you replace the bad solenoid. If it proves to be a bad solenoid you may be able to get a replacement at a local auto parts store.

Most pumps have a part on the end where you can insert a bit driven by an electric drill. I'd try that to get the slide in all the way. That will also tell you if the hydraulics are good. Once that is confirmed the only thing it could be is electrical or motor.

For those of you that have an older Montana using the Dewald Hydraulic slide out system check out www.powergearus.com for printable parts and service manuals.

01RAMer ... the older models didn't have the access hole on the end to use a drill motor ... the hydraulic units actually had a manual pump similar to a hydraulic jack with a removable handle near the pump itself. You just inserted the handle and hand pumped them in and out when the motor quit. Unfortunately that company went out of business and that feature wasn't picked up by the following vendor.
