Converter Noise

We've been out here at USAFA for about a month now and we just started hearing the converter fan turn on more frequently. The only thing that has changed is that it has gotten pretty cold.....17 degrees the other morning! Any ideas on why the converter fan would be running more now? My wife actually discovered it....more sensitive to noise I guess....and since I'm away at work right now, I just told her to turn off the battery switch..maybe the charger???? Thanks as always for the help.

If you are running the furnace, which is 12 volt, the converter will be charging the battery more often.

What Glen Said. Your furnace fan is 12 vdc and with the furnace running more the battery needs topping off more.

Also - with it getting dark earlier -- more lights on -- some are 12 volt and others 110 volt -- so using the 12 volt lights adds to the load on the battery(ies) as well.
