Pivot Hinge Door

Has anyone changed their pivot hinged door to the bathroom to a regular hinged door that swings in towards the toilet? If so, do you have any pics or documents on how to do it?

How would you get in? Seems like it would cause more trouble (like the tiny ladies room stalls with inward turning doors).

A number of us have, particularly those with a 3720 or 3721 because on those models the pivot door prohibits you from accessing the bathroom whith the slides in. There's no trick to it. We just installed hinges on the toilet side so that the door opens in against the toilet.

Thanks. This looks clean and easy. A couple of questions:

Did you recess the hinges in the door jamb and door or simply flush mount them?

Did you have to add any door stop molding on the hall side?

I didn’t realize that could be a problem (no access to the bathroom while the slides are in). On another note, those are pretty doors. We have a high country - so we lack some of those finer details.

Yep we have the center hinged door and we hate it! That’s on the project list

By the way, I am planning on bringing the Router table, compound miter saw and table saw with me to New Mexico. That garage on the 381 sure is handy....

I have to say after properly adjusting the door my wife & I are ok with it, just took a little getting used to it. At first is was a little quirky, but it was never adjusted right from day one, well see how it goes, can always add hinges.

Yes, I have changed our door to a hinged one on our 3810MS. After one year, the bearings in the overhead trolley gave out, letting the door drop. The trolley is the only thing holding the door up. I debated replacing the trolley, but decided to hinge the door instead. It was fairly easy. The hardest part was removing the pivoting mechanism, which is hidden behind the molding on the latch side of the door. But, overall it wasn't that hard. I opted to hinge it on the toilet side of the frame, and to have it swing OUT into the hallway, as the other way it wouldn't clear the commode. Only drawback is that it doesn't quite clear the valance over the window in the hallway on the 3810, but it comes darn close, close enough that it doesn't matter to us. It was just a one day (part of it) job to do the change.

This is on our "may do list" Ours recently started acting up. I think it may just be coming loose. When I get back to camp in a couple weeks I will attempt to tighten and if that doesn't do it the straight hinges go on.
