Trailer hitch

Looking to find out if anyone has installed a trailer hitch on a 2008 Montana..
I want to haul a generator on a cargo rack..is it best to have one welded on or just bolted on..is the frame strong enough to hold the weight or do you have to add a crossmember to the frame?
Thanks
Lfw

I was told by Keystone not to haul anything on a rear hitch heavier than a couple of bicycles.

Several of us have had hitches on our Montanas ... being an 08 ... the flap about voiding warranty is well past. If you have one made right ... the hitch beam itself acts as a cross member. I have mine bolted to the frame with six 1/2" bolts. I've used it on my old 2000, my 2005, and my 2011 as the frames have all been the same width. Some on the MOC have had 2 receiver hitches welded to the frame and a basket made with two arms to slip into both receptacles. These are way sturdier than a single receiver tube supporting a basket.

I had a heavy duty hitch welded to my 09' a few years ago by a local company that specializes in hitches, tow bars , etc. I use it to tow my jeep with me on extended trips where the roads are narrow, winding, etc. Works like a charm!
