1st time filling fresh water tank

I see in the manual about using bleach and letting it set for 4 hours so we will plan to do that and drain before we fill. The question is in the convenience center it states to open the pressure valve (or something like that) before filling with a hose. Where do we find that? Also, should we use a pressure regulator when filling? Any input and General suggestions will be appreciated.

I can't answer how to fill on the newer units as ours doesn't have the power fill option but here is the method we use: http://rvbasics.com/techtips/sanitiz...er-system.html . We only do this about once a year as our unit gets used pretty regularly. Jim

We always use a pressure regulator. It's cheap insurance.

Mark, I'm not sure of the setup on your unit, but on our '15 3160RL there is a vent for the fresh water tank on the ODS ( off door side ) at the rear of the unit. I just poped the cap off the vent, took out the bug screen and with a funnel, poured the bleach solution into the tank directly. Then turned on the pump & opened up each faucet until you smell bleach. Let it set for 3 or 4 hr. then flush with a lot of water, till you don't smell bleach any more. By the way, make sure that the hot water heater is turned off & that it is cold. If you don't have the vent for the tank, another way to get the solution into the tank is to pour it into the hose before you hook it up to the hose to the port in the water closet to fill the tank. This was the way I had to do it in my last SOB.
Pressure regulator would be a good idea, put it at the water source end of the hose.

Manual is generic and meant to vaguely cover all models...so use it with a grain of salt as the old saying goes. On our 3800, just tirn the value to power fill position with hose hooked to water in port. There is a vent on the tank that will/should overflow when it is more than full and why you should use the cheap tank level indicator to know when to stop filling. Fresh water tank will be the only one that will be accurate. John

My 2013 has the manual fill on ODS rear as well. I simply remove the cap to vent and use the power fill. As for bleach i dump a little bit in the hose before I connect to the power fill. I've never used a regulator when filling. It takes long enough. Probably safer to use one but i've not had a problem on any RV.

I've filled the tank and run the faucets. The water pump continues to try to kick on and off when the faucets are off. Any suggestions? I thought maybe air in the lines and ran the faucets longer but the pump continues to try to run when I turn the faucets off.

Probably need to start checking and tightening connections. Mine did the same thing when new. Got lucky as it was a loose fitting at the pump.I'd start at all the fittings that are easily accessible like at the pump, water heater, and under the sinks for the faucet connections, and the toilet. Also on your city water hook up there is a check valve. If you pull the screen off you can see the white shaft of the valve. Push that a couple of times to make sure it is seating. Hope this helps and let us know what you figure out. (on second thought I would try the check valve first) Jim

If you do not have the city water connected and the fresh water tank valve in the fill position, the water pump will continue to cycle. Turn the valve to normal flow.

It's on the fill flow and we've checked the fittings. Not finding anything but its not holding pressure. There has to be a leak someplace,

It' was on normal flow. Must be an airleak someplace.
