Thermostat install

Help I purchased a Honeywell thermostat to replace the original. I got the cover off and found 6 wires

red-7.5 yellow-Cool White-Furnace Blue-Hi Fan Brown-Low Fan Green-ground

The New Thermostat only has

Red loop-Rh Rc White Yellow Green

Ok so how do I hook this thing up? I noticed on other threads people bought one with a battery back up. Do I need to purchase another one? I know it's probably personal preference but should I get one that is programmable?

George,

I replaced mine several years ago with a hunter from Walmart, It has 2 double a batteries in it.
I have the wiring diagram I can send you if you think it would help.
Just send me a email and let me know.

Here is a diagram of the "Duo-Therm" to "Hunter" Conversion, you can just use it to connect your "Honeywell up, as they're similar connections...

Ok looking at my wires on the Dometic (original) thermostat I am assuming the Brown wire represents the Orange and the Green represents the Black Ground? am I corret? If I hook this up wrong because I have the wires wrong what will happen? can I burn or short anything out?
So the Brown and red original wires are the ones that are not used correct?

One more question on the back of the new Panel there is a jumper, do I need it on Hg or He?

Failed on the installation with the Honeywell Thermo could never get the air to come on. So back to square one and going to get the Hunter everyone else uses and try again. Thanks for all the e-mails Wayne it was much appreciated.
