Winter in the Big Sky

A good learning experience is what I would call it. Learning how to take care of your fresh water supply and discharge your effluent in adverse weather conditions is valuable. I like cool, not cold weather anyway. Being from the south, thanks to having read posts on the forum, I avoided a number of mistakes even though I made some. As long as I don't have to travel in ice, snow, or freezing rain, winter camping is even enjoyable.

We woke up this morning to below zero with a frozen convenience center. A few minutes of the handy dandy hairdryer and we have water again! Those 40 mph winds will do a number on water lines.

Amen to what you said Stiles!! And Thanks to Icehouse and others with all of their words of wisdom. Wayne now has the (I am so not going to say this correctly) whole bottom off and working on insulating the water tanks better than what they were done at the factory. Just starting this project so wish us luck...However - we do like winter camping. We've been to Cadillac, MI and it was absolutely gorgeous. Its the travelling in the bad weather (as Stiles said) you obviously need to avoid.

Wschep -

Great picture. Stiles, how is the new Big Sky in the cold (below 20)? We find our 2005 Montana cool in the 20's. I really admire Icehouse and their spirit up in Alaska. Hopefully, they are in much better shape than last year.

rames14, we did not get into the below 20's. We got in the low 20's several nights. We are able to stay comfortable. It is not like running around in shorts on a summer's day. But, with a sweater, well, it is fireplace weather. Backing up to it is pretty neat.
