Monitor

Is there a monitor system that one can buy that will send an alert to a smart phone that there is a high temp in ones rv. One that could be set at a temp you desired and if so how pricey is it. I'm thinking of the times we have to leave our pup in the rv alone. Thanks, Brent

With the home automation devices now available that interfaces with smart phones, I think your answer is just a search away. John

Hi Brent,

The link below has everything your need for remote temp and humidity monitoring, yours for only $110 on sale. Keep in mind that any system with remote monitoring capability will require that the monitoring system has access to the internet.

This could be provided by the campground wifi or your own hotspot (either a jetpack or one of your smartphones with the hotspot turned on) which you leave in the trailer. This is required so the monitor can send the data to your phone. Otherwise there is no way for your phone to get the readings. Of course if the campground wifi is intermittent, then your temp reporting/alerting will be as well.

The link to the system is http://www.acurite.com/environment-s...s-display.html . I use a similar system to monitor the weather conditions at the house while we are on the road and it works very reliably.

Not an inexpensive solution, but will get the job done and will be about as cheap as anything else that will work.

Dave

It's not the answer to everything, however. If your at a concert or a movie and have your phone turned off or there's too much noise or your in a building with no reception it's still not going to alert you. There just is no easy answer to this issue. If we're going to be away like that we usually are in a place where we've been for a while and now know someone. We'll give them a key and ask that if the power goes off they open some windows and turn on the vents. Yes, they could steal our stuff, but our stuff is less important than our pets.
