Television Removal
OK, I consider myself pretty handy but this one has me stumped. We have a 07 342PHT and the DVD/Surround sound system quit. No suprise with 3 little ones.. my problem, I want to remove the old TV set itself and upgrade to a flat panel digital ready unit and a blue ray surround system.
They have the TV set installed so tight, I can't figure out how to remove it, save dismantling the whole "wall" I've looked under the shelf, looked in the left side closet, right side cabinets, no fasteners to be seen anywhere. Anyone have a clue?
Thanks

Thanks Phil, but like I said, I've looked under it, and both sides, no fasteners anywhere. The top has the built in speakers, I think I will need to dismantle the whole cabinet stack up....

I believe that is a Mountaineer? If so, I would suspect the TV is screwed in from underneath the shelf it sets on. The screws go through the shelf right into the TV case. Ours has two right behind the horizontal shelf support, and one farther back. I've had ours out a couple times. Need to take it out again, as the speakers built in above the TV are out.
If you still can't find them, post again and I'll shoot a couple pictures and post to assist you.

I have 307RKD and the screws go from the shelf right through the plastic top and bottom of the TV. Shine a flash light in and you might see the screws. No brackets, just the screws.

Mine was mounted on a slide that pulled out plus swiveled. When I pulled it out I found two wood screws, about an inch behind the wood trim going up through the metal tray into the plastic casing on the TV. About 6 inches behind them there were two more wood screws. You had to swivel the TV all the way left/right to get a screw driver on them. The screws were hard to see as they were black just like the metal tray they sat on. Jim

On ours in the 04 3400, you take out the middle speaker and the screw heads for the tv are found there. To get at the bottom one, you have to take out the fireplace to find it. or you can slide a thin saw that will cut the screws so you can slide out the TV.

Thank you all for your help, after reading the posts, I found the 2 screws in the bottom under the shelf, to me--they looked like shelf screws, but after reading the responses, they were indeed the tv screws. the one on the top, of course, the "technitions" in Elkhart snapped the head off one screw, then put another in. So I take the long screw out, and it won't pull out, I look close, there is another screw without a head. Fun time getting that one out..thanks again.
