Reading Rich's post made me want to post my thoughts, too. To me, the decision to fulltime, part time, most time, or some time is a purely personal one. There is no correct or incorrect decision. It is what works best for you.

As for us, we also don't want to always go to one place, other than we want to spend some time near our kids and grandkids. Otherwise we tend to go to different places each winter and summer. This next winter we are repeating two months in a place we really enjoyed back in Jan/Feb of 2005. But the next winter it will be somewhere else.

Again, in my opinion the only right answer is what works for you. And that might change over time.

We started full-timing in June of 05.
Full-timing has exceded our expectations. My wife gives it a 9.5.
We thought we could see US in two years, but we are not going to make it. Decided that was too much work, so we are slowing down and enjoying it more. Not sure how long we will be doing it.
We had also thought about some work-camping, but so far have not wanted to stay in one spot that long. Too much to see. Everywhere we go, we find more things that we would like to see.

Mobrownies, your story sounds a lot like ours.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Mobrownies, the more you see, the more there is to see. To us seven years to make it from the west coast to the east coast, now we are slowing down a bit!

Write us down Glenn. We have been for a year now. Spend our fuel oil money for diesel now. That way it dosen't cost us anything extra to hit the road. (for fuel that is.) Dan

In 1993 we started full timing in our brand new Escaper fifth and shiny new F-250 Ford. We thought we were in heaven. What a great way to go. Gave the kids what they wanted out of the condo, sold the rest and away we went. Then our friend needed help so away we went back to work for awhile. Got sick, sold rig and settled down in a cottage for 8 yrs. Got better, went back to work and went for a holiday to Florida for 3 weeks, all our friends were there and we had to come back. What is wrong with this picture??????? Within a week we sold the full time cottage and away we went, never looking back. that was over 2 years ago... We both love it,,,,, and will travel until we can't.. P.S. mom said I had gypsy blood,, I believe her..
Rating is about 8+ .. miss my gardens, some campsites are a little rough...

We are fulltiming in our front yard. We are waiting for our 3475RL and have begun getting rid of "stuff". We have known we were going to fulltime but my mother-in-law had been in nursing home as a result of a stroke. She passed away in March and have had her house for sale. We finally got a contract on the house with closing in three weeks.
We are in the RV at least five months out of the year already. We volunteer and host at two parks in the Fl Keys from Nov thru March and also take off any chance we get and for any reason.
Come mid April of 2007 the Red Dodge is heading back to Alaska whether our house is sold or not.

We started full timing March of this year 2006. We got transfered from Alaska to Florida and were just going to use the trailer for the trip. After we got here we decided we didn't even want to unpack. We're living in our unit until we can find a way out of Florida. Spending 6 years in Alaska makes Florida seem probably hotter than it really is. That and the lack of Mountains and scenery. We tried to do the beach thing but there was too much seaweed and fish in the water. The locals said the beaches are only good a couple months in the beginning of summer. I guess they are going to start to stink with all the washed up dried out jelly fish.

I guess after reading redrover98, we are almost full timers. Last winter, Jan-Mar. we were in Fla at the same park. This year, we are going back for 5 months. We have decided to leave the park for a week every month to see Fla. During the other 7 months, we have a small double wide on Smith Mountain Lake in south central Va. What we have full time on the lake, our neighbors in the park-marina only see on weekends. It's paid for and rent on the site is $125 a month. We pay our own lights. They supply water & sewer.

My question is, is it expensive full timing. We would keep the house. Foolish to sell it.

Glenn, would you start a thread, title it something like, what does it cost you to full time. All I'm seeing is the gas and park rent. Would like some input on this.

We are set to receive our 2007 3400RL this Friday Aug 18th. Will become fulltimers at that point. New to RVing in general, and have been using the forums to learn as much as fast as possible. We are going to stay for our first week at a really nice Arkansas State RV park 15 miles from the dealership, just in case! Thanks for having this web site it has been really helpful! All of the folks are really great with their experiences!

We can't wait!!

Steve and Cindy, if you want to learn something about your new home, come to the rally in Indiana in Sept. We've got one site that opened up plus plenty of overflow parking. There will be a wealth of information floating around that week both from representatives from the manufacturing folks who contribute to Montanas and especially from the many experienced Montana owners who will be there. There are instructions under the MOC Fall Rally section (the one with the nice pumpkins) on how to register. Welcome to the forum.

First of all Steve and Cindy, Welcome to the ever growning MOC Family and like Judy said if possible please join us at fall rally.

Secondly, Salle & Samuel I'm gonna do just that if for no more reason than I don't want to hijack my own thread. The thread will be in the "Full timing in your Montana" category with the subject "What does it cost you to full time??"

Welcome to the small world! Steve and Cindy pulled into the spot next to us here in Russellville AR. Told them about MOC, but they already knew. What a surprise to find a reply from them in this thread.

Kathy and I have been fulltimeing since March of 2001 and we love the lifestyle. We have now been to all 50 states. Yes it was hard getting the coach to Hawaii. We probably have slowed down our travels and will visit areas we want to go back to. That is the beauty of this lifestyle.

What rest area did you use on the Hawaii bridge? And did they charge you extra for the pie for desert at the resturant at mile marker 986?

Welcome Bill and Kathy to the MOC family.

You folks are now number 49 on our FULL TIMERS list.

OK, we got 49 but I'd be willing to bet there are more MOC full timers lurking out there than just the 49 who responded. So come on and let us know you are out there.
