I just purchased a 50’ 50 amp cord and reel. Started with a 36’ cord and it was too short the first time out, and had to pull forward. The dealer didn’t give me a cord, and I didn’t notice until I towed it home 1000 miles from where I purchased it.

I bought a 15' 50 amp extension cord when i first started traveling. i've used it a couple of times while traveling and used it every time i hooked up at home until i decided to move the pedestal closer to the rv. 15' is easy to store and gives me more than the length of the rv with regular cord. If i need more than 15' then i probably shouldn't be staying there.

Do you have a source for them. Lots of us could benefit. I for sure could have saved a few bucks but never found anything like that in my searce a couple years back so bought new,

I have one, and yes I have had to use it three or four times in 5 years.

I have used my extension cord many times in the past few years as some parks have now starting putting pedestals in the off door side of the rig about half way into the site and my rear connection just doesn't make it to all of them. I bought a Camco extension cord and the best price I found was Walmart dot com.

In 80,000 miles over 6 years we have never needed a 50-amp extension. That does not mean we didn't have to be careful about where we positioned the 5er in the site a couple of times.

If you have a 50A unit carry a 50A cord, you will not be sorry

It sounds as if your rig is a 30a rig. If this is the case 30a cord is adaquet. There will be voltage drop, minor and only when you are close to actually using 30a in the rig. A 50a cord will lessen the voltage dorp. On the other side, if your rig is a 50a rig you are really putting your equipment in jeopardy using a 30a cord. A 50a cord has two legs capable of 50a each, a 30a cord has one leg capable of 30a. A 50a cord has more than three times the capacity of that of a 30a cord.

I found myself loading way too many "I might someday need this" kind of items in my trailer. In 5 years of traveling, I never needed my 50A extension cord. I jettisoned it,and lots of other "possibles" that were beginning to clutter up my domain. Clean, tight and efficient makes for simple traveling and a lot lighter load out.
