I have 13.5 volts to the antenna, but it doesn,t search for satelites. Anyone have a similar problem. Thanks

Hi

On Direct TV the voltage should alternate between about 13 and 7 to change the polarity. If you are on direct and it is a steady 13 then your receiver isn’t working properly. Check the wire from the receiver to the power inserter and see what you have there.

I haven't had any problems with Dish Network using the King Tailgator so can’t tell you much about the Dish receiver.

Call Winegard they have good product phone support.

Sounds to me like your issue is on the reciever side. Did you remove the splitter behind the convenience center? I use 2 G2+'s but they wouldn't work until I got the splitter out of the way.

Recommend running the cable from the antenna through a window to the receiver to troubleshoot the system. If it works, you have an issue with wiring in the rig. If it still doesn't work, you likely have an issue with the receiver or antenna.

Called winegard and the voltage is fine, the problem must be in the antenna itself, but I am curious, if the inserter was not working, how would the antenna know what satelite to searh for????

HI

I think AZ Traveler means to run the cable from the receiver to the power inserter and use the Winegard provided cable from the inserter to the antenna.

I would do this before sending the unit back.

I have done what AZ Traveler suggests, the cables are fine, but maybe the inserter is not sending the signal to search, although there is voltage to the antenna

Hi

We have dish network and swap the receivers from the house to the trailer.

We have 2 receivers 1 Winegard G2 ad one King tailgater.

The Winegard always takes several scans for the switch before it final returns the SW64 switch.

Try doing a check switch with the check mark in the box for “superdish” if that doesn’t work then try checking the box for “Alternate”.

I sometimes have to run the “check switch” 5 or 6 times to get it to work.

Also make sure you have a clear view of the sky the satellites should be azimuth 210 or there about.

I have run the check switch several times, and i will do it again, I will also try another receiver to see if it will start searching.
Thanks

Hi

Too bad you are so far away I would let you try my antenna.

I am on Bell network and have tried moving the settings on the dip switches, in the inserter, still no movement in the antenna. My receiver works fine with a regular type dish I have set up on a picnic table. The carryout antenna worked fine at my last location. I made a 350 km trip to my present location and it doesn,t work. Iam wondering if it might be stuck or locked into its present position

Hi

I had the early carry our as well. I have had the cover off both the original carry out and the G2. The antenna is belt driven.

I would remove the dome and watch to see what is happening. I don’t believe there is a seal so there isn’t any way Winegard could tell you took the cover off.

I gave my original carry out to a friend after it quit working and he took it all apart and found a broken wire. It is still working today.

Winegard has a great app for your smartphone. It uses virtual reality. In satellite mode, you pan the sky and you see icons where the satellites are located. In Broadcast mode, pan across the horizon and it shows where the broadcast towers are located. I've used many other apps and this one is superior.
