Good question! There isn't a spot for a lock. I assume that you would have to drill a hole in the latch for one??

You mean like this?

I think that might weaken the handle wouldn't it?

Hmmmm good point. What if you drilled the hole on the underside of the "L" shape and used a long shank lock over the top of the bar so you didn't have to drill the handle itself? Also the hole could be a lot smaller?

Or maybe use an eye bolt on the bottom mounting hole and fabricate a metal latch that would wrap over the top of the handle? I can weld, let me study on that subject a bit and get back to ya on it. If I decide to go that route I can make two of them if ya want one?

You've got me thinking about an eye bolt. Perhaps using a long padlock that goes through the eye bolt and around the handle?

But if you're fabricating something, I'm in for sure! Though my preference is to lock both sides.

If I make something it could be used on either or both sides.

I would say an eye bolt with a short piece of chain that could be wrapped around the handle and both ends secured to the eye bolt with a lock would work? Only issue might be if the chain would damage the finish? Maybe rubber coated chain?

Or two eye bolts one on top and one on bottom with the chain between them? Either two locks or they make chain links that once squeezed together stay that way....

But I think the best solution would be a piece of heavy strap (flat metal) bent to fit over the handle and bolted to one of the tie down bolts.

Let me study on it a bit.

Not sure about everyone else but mine has locking holes on the top of the L brackets. Just put a lock through then hole and it blocks the swing arm handle from moving.

That may be worth paying another visit to the dealer to check out!

Well I should have just walked out and looked at mine before going any further. There is a hole for lock on both handles on the top of the L bracket. It isn't real obvious though is why I missed it.

Just took my 381TH back to Camping World today. They are going to fix the following minor issues:
Front window had a missing trim piece behind the TV.
Adjust TV lift so that it will raise the TV an additional 1" or so for the sake of the remote controls.
Adjust bathroom door so that it will close properly. FYI: I am hearing some not so good things about durability of center hinge doors....
Possible warranty replacement of counter top on living room/Kitchen divider. The counter top has some small chips in it.
Review operation of auto level system.
Oh FYI, I have been wondering why there were two drain valves under the middle of the trailer. I knew one was for the fresh water tank. Come to find out the second is for the ice maker line! Manual suggests NOT using winterizer on line just draining it....

Yep. Late to the discussion, but I didn't find those holes at first either.
It wasn't until I had the lift gate down and preparing to close it again that I noticed the holes.

I have (2) identically keyed 2-1/2 locks with 5/16 shank in each clasp.
I used a 5/16 ID piece of tubing on the locks to keep them from rattling around and marking up the clasp.

I'm sure, 100% sure, friends with a 2017 Cedar Creek would disagree with you. They will give you a great deal when the 2019 Montanas arrive ~~ if it is out of the shop.

CamoGreg,
Good idea on the tubing......
On the body of the lock you might try that plastic coat/dip (comes in a can like PVC glue). Can be painted on (sorta) and drys to something like the coating on tool handles.

I went ahead and bought the 381TH because it had a 10' garage vs the Grand Design 9'6". I keep holding out hope though that someone will eventually come up with a garage that runs the length of the coach (some 30'). Now that would really be something!

I have had a Keystone in the past that gave us good service and this one seems to be following the same path so I have no reason to shy away from the brand. All brands have some issues. Keystone has been around a lot longer than most and there has to be a reason for that. You can't build total junk and stay in business that long.......I am reasonably comfortable with my purchase, especially considering it was $30K less than the Grand Design!!!

Sure am! I've found (as a new RAM owner) that that forum has been far more helpful than a number of other RAM forums!

Top step tripper

When we first went through a 380 I tripped on the tall top step, stumbled across the room and hit my collar bone on the table edge and thought I had broken it,(Collar bone-not table). Had to sit down for a few minutes to recoop. Maybe my trifocals played a role in this but it was the only unit that I tripped on out of several we toured that day. Needs redesign.
