New for 2019

While I sit around here, reading these posts, waiting for the delivery of my 2019 381th, I thought people may want to know some of the changes for this year. So, new for 2019:
2nd AC is now standard and upgraded from a 13.5 to a 15k
MOR ryde StepAbove strut assisted entry step
Furrion 21" 2n1 ss oven/cooktop
Redesigned "Wide-open" front wardrobe doors
Motion activated light at entry
Motion activated light at switch panel
Fireplace accent panel
Road Armor suspension (Equa Flex triple kit)
At the end of the month when we pick it we will look for any other changes that we noticed from the 2018 model that we spent time in.

It would be tight to get two bigger bikes in the garage. Not to mention a good bit of overall cargo weight being taxed with what could be 2000lbs.
That's more than 1/2 of everything.

I've been living in mine for 10 months now. I have everything I need loaded and soon to make a trip to the scales. I'm carrying about 1000lbs in the garage. No idea what everything else in the rig weighs. I'm just hoping to be underweight. Everything I brought in was considered for weight along with necessity.

I'll post in a few weeks how I did on the scales.
Fingers crossed.

Didn't think about insulation. Guess I could add it later. Good idea, Rondo!

I have a Condor in mine. Made all measurements and told dealer exactly where I wanted it and they added another steel beam on the underside so all 4 bolts had a solid anchor on a steal beam.
I have a Ultra Limited that fits in it nicely. I also have a Softail Deuce CVO and Wide Glide and only one bike at a time will fit.
Plus I had them weld 3 rollers on the very back to the bottom does hit. (I need this to go from my driveway on to road; quite an angle) Works great.

I was wondering if anyone has added skids, I am going to add a set once I bring it home from seasonal site. Has anyone installed a 2" receiver? I have added them to every camper so far, mostly for the bicycles.

So far we can get two bikes, a 650 bmw & Harley XR1200. I stagger them while using the Harbor fright wheel chocks, not bolted. I used this in my last couple garages with no problems, just use 4 separate tie downs on each.

Has anybody installed the optional genset? Is it gas or propane? Im guessing propane since their is no fuel tank. Ours came generator ready, haven't even looked in that compartment yet.

We use the harbor freight chock for motorcycle without bolting it down too although I have considered mounting it to a piece of plywood for additional stability. It is inexpensive but it is also a little small for our front tire

For our bicycles we got a double chock from Academy. Works nice and you can pull it out to use at camp

If yours is like mine your gonna think they did a real shoddy job building the compartment. I plan to put welder/gen in my longbed truck so no onboard for us

Fairly sure it would be butane. There is a T on the main butane line just after it drops down at front of trailer. I plan to put a valve and quick connect there for the BBQ

Skids I understand but a receiver?? You have a garage.

If not enough room for the bikes you can carry them under the hitch on back bumper of your truck. You will likely need a drop down hitch. They even make a hinged bike rack that drops down so you have clearance to unhitch the 5er.

Does anyone know what the model designation means?

HM380TH

I'm guessing 380 sq.ft. Toy Hauler.
No idea what the "HM" is except maybe HighCountry Montana

381 is most likely a rounded up number to distinguish the residential fridge.

Your correct on 380 vs 381 and the TH does stand for toy hauler. No idea on the numbers. I used to think they were length. And perhaps from king pin to rear that might hold true but the model is 41’6” nose to tail I think

Its always nice to have a 2" receiver handy. I just need some measurements so I can fab it up, will be a bolt on, its well worth a couple of hours work. I think its tight enough with two bikes in the garage, don't want to scratch em up. Plus I sometimes take a receiver mounted wheeled box that we keep our inflatable boat & motor in, just drop the wheels & unhitch.

I did have a receiver on my former camper. In fact I had 3 and could carry a small motorcycle plus tow a flat bottom boat. I am a welder and fab it up myself

But I just don’t see a need on the 381 plus I am concerned that might void warranty not to mention the ground clearance concern

I get it that they are handy with a lot of potential uses but in my case I am looking to find ways to keep it all in the garage. As for bigger toys like a side by side we plan to tow those separately

Would be great to keep it all in the garage, unfortunately that was the compromise with getting the 381. Really need to get it home & see what fits, hard to do at the campground we are at now. Has anyone added more tie downs?

Just curious, did your new campers came with an owners manual? This is the first one that didn't have a compilation of equipment nomenclature and a factory manual for the coach. Camping world basically told me if its not in there it doesn't come with it, I don't buy it. Thanks

Yes the generator is propane powered and it's a thirsty devil 😈. Not a complaint so much as a observation. We've used ours several times and it powered the entire coach without issue. Using it to just run the AC on a hot night while boondocking would stretch your propane a bit. With the bedroom in the back you'll never hear it running.

One issue is the location of the exhaust pipe under the street side (left) living room slide. I'm hyper vigilant and think CO could creep in that way. A Genturi or similar product is a must IMHO though may require adding an extension to the existing pipe. I got mine from a local muffler shop.
