Montana??

Hi everyone
We currently have a 36sk Paradise Pointe but are looking into trading to the Montana 3585SA. First off let me say I LOVE our Paradise Pointe but our dealer went belly up and there isn't any other close dealer for warranty work or anything if we should have problems. That leaves us to just trade it off so we don't have to worry about that situation. We have always thought of going with a rear kitchen design but every dealer talks us out of it (might be the fact that they didn't have one of the lot at that time, I don't know) All you other rear kitchen owners or anyone with this unit please let me know what you think of the layout. The dealers always said you don't want a rear kitchen all your dishes bounce around alot and etc... How much can paper plates move? lol I'm concerned with the very little lineolium when you first walk in, no closet either? Montana 3585SA or 3000RK owners please give me your HONEST opinion here.

Thanks
Future Montana owner (just not sure which one yet)

Welcome to the Forum, Iowafamily. I haven't owned one but I wouldn't hesitate to buy a rear kitchen as adjustments can be made for things that ride in the rear kitchen. Many owners seem to use Corelle dinnerware, pack breakables in lower cabinets rather than overhead ones whenever possible, etc. I know some of them will be along to share their firsthand experience.

I am sure that if the dealer had a couple of rear kitchen models on the lot, he would have pushed the rear kitchen.

We bought a 3585SA in March and we love it. There is so much room. We live in it full time and have had very few problems. Let me suggest that you get the fireplace, washer/dryer and 2nd ac if your's doesn't come with one. We wanted to keep the cost down and all of those things were optional. We have since purchased the 2nd ac and are in the process of installing a washer and dryer. We'll get the fireplace before winter. We chose this model because of the all in one bathroom.

Hope you enjoy it.

The Montana's now have Mor Ryde suspension standard and I think the Mor Ride pin box is now a option. Does not appear that the rear bounce is as much of a issue as it once was. Our honest opinion, and we are known for our honest and straight forward opinions is..there are better and there are worse. We had some problems with our 13 month old 3400, some big, most small and ALL taken care of by our dealer or Keystone, no problem what-so-ever.Do your homework and you may find like most of us that the Montana is a tremendous value for your dollar. Keystone is at the top of the list in customer service and satisfaction and that is worth a lot of dollars.

weve got a 307 RKD mountaineer and we love the rear kitchen. More often than not, Items that are mistakenly left on the kitchen counter are still there when we get to our destination.

Our first Montana, a 2002, was a rear kitchen model. We never had a problem with breakage, etc. We now have a rear living and that is only because we like the floor plan better and wanted a rear picture window. We, too, have had some problems with our Montys but all were taken care of very well by the dealer and Keystone.

We don't have the 3585RK or the 3000RK but we have an early 2003 rear kitchen 3295RK and I love it. We did have some breakage early on as we were so green to RV-ing. We'd only had tents and pops up prior to this. Now everything stays put.

As someone mentioned, now they have new suspension on them. We also got a MorRyde hitch which helped. There are several kinds of hitches that will help out there. We loves ours and it was our only option since we have the Pullrite Superglide hitch.

The 3585 you're looking at is the one I want, very badly. I love it. My only problem would be that I want a stackable washer and dryer in what ever rig we have and you can only have a combination in that model. If that is not an issue for you, then go for it.

There is a place for coats if I remember correctly in the entertainment area.

Oh and by the way, welcome to MOC.

Patty

Iowafamily: Welcome to the MOC forum. We have an '06 3000RK and are thoroughly pleased with it. It took Jeanne a couple moves to figure out just how to pack stuff so that it was stable, but we don't have any movement now. We went from an '03 2955RL Montana to this 3000RK so that might show we like Montys. We also wanted to stay with only 2 slides 'cause with the 2955RL we were in a couple places where I had to shoehorn it in and 3 slides would have sent us down the road. But to each their own. We have a little over 10000 miles on it now and that includes about 2100 miles over some bumpy roads in Mexico and we took one off the dealers lot that didn't have the Mor Ryde suspension. Happy travels.

Iowafamily, welcome to the group.

We also have a 3000RK and love every square inch of it. The DW loves the rear kitchen (the main reason we bought this unit), and says she wouldn't have it any other way.

Welcome aboard. We have had nothing but rear kitchens and love them. Never had anything break yet and I have traveled coast to coast and north to south. The rear kitchen with the island in the 3650rk was what got us on the last one.
