Will I get stuck?
I need to get my camper out of my seasonal campground. There is about 4 to 8 inches of snow on the ground. I drive a lot in the snow but have never pulled my camper 5 ft. in the snow. I have a 4 wheel drive pick up and only need to pull the camper about 2 blocks on fairly level ground, except for a gentle slope just before I get to the road. Tires are all terraine but only have about 50% tread left. No sharp turns or other obstactles. What do you think, will have any trouble? Thanks for your thoughts.

Kind of depends on whether you have snow your tires can get a grip in or whether there's ice under there. When we had the S&B I pulled ours up a short but steep hill thru what was left of a snow drift and on snow, but the snow was dry, there was gravel under the snow and I had new tires on the truck. I don't know how to tell you what you're wanting to do is a good idea or not without being there and see it for myself.

Might be worth while to use the 4 wheel drive and borrow a set of chains and chain up the front tires. Be very carefull with the braking.

Should be no problem. I assume the road is clear. Go easy in four wheel drive and you should have no problems. I once drove the New York Thruway in a blinding snow storm with 4-6 inches on the road. The tow vehicle had highway rib tires on it. Backed off on the trailer brakes kept it in four wheel drive and went easy had no problem. Use common sense and all should be ok. I would be more concerned about whether or not there is frost in the ground. With no frost you could get stuck assuming the road coming out of the campground is not hard surfaced. Good luck

Too many variables to say yes or no. Eight inches can create some challenges

I pulled out (truck and trailer with road tires on truck) with virgin snow and had no problems until I tried to back down the same path and pull forward again. The packed snow became slippery with the second attempt. So lesson learned make one trip only on the virgin snow.
As stated lots of variables.
I hope this helps and safe travels.

If you get stuck trying to pull out, shovel a path in front of the Montana tires and you should be good to go. Make sure your tires are not frozen to the ground. If they are give each of them a kick on the sidewall to break them loose.

Another view on this ... if the ground isn't frozen, there's a possibility your fiver will sink like a rock if you're pulling across a grassy lot.

A lot of it depends on your own skills. It's difficult for anyone to give good advice for something like this not knowing the locale and circumstances.

Thanks for your comments. No problem with sinking the ground is frozen solid. Only have less than 2 blocks in campgrond then good city streets that are dry.

We pulled our trailer through eight inches of snow at a campsite in Idaho going to Q. We had to go around several turns so I don't think you would have an issue. I would break a trail with your truck to make a path to the road to pull the trailer out on. I would use 4HI. Once you get moving just keep it going slow and steady.

That helpful Bobcat. Why 4hi rather than 4 Low?

I always use 4X low because I can pull more slowly and not spin the tires- If the tires begin to spin you are in danger of getting stuck- How do I know this? Don't ask- JMHO- Don

Thanks for all your tips. I pulled it out on Sat. It was very cold so snow was not wet. Did it in 4hi with no problems in about 6 in of snow. the tires did slip some as I hitching up. But really not problem at all.
