material around 5th wheel hitch
I know it has a name but I dont know what it is. The white plastic around the 5th wheel hitch is cracked and broke therefore it has been taped up. This looks bad and is sagging down so I would like to try and replace the plastic. Has anyone came across this problem and fixed it? I might add it is not the hitch itself but the plastic on the under side of the bedroom part of the camper.

Welcome to the forum. If you are talking about that white plastic ring, we just get another one and thow the old one away. They just wear with use.

I believe what you are describing is the Teflon ring that serves to lubricate between the plates on the hitch and the kingpin. If you don't use one, you would have to grease the plates. When you get a new one, read which side goes up.
If it begins to sag, but is not broken, simply lay it down on a hard surface, take a hammer and smack it real hard on the inside where it looks like cogs and it will tighten up. I have been using the same one on both my 2003 and my 2008 models. That's 5 years, 3 fulltime.

I know what you are talking about - and it aint cheap! .
If you could find a sheet of the material, it could be easily made. I just don't know where to get it. You might check with a Dealer, or maybe even a body shop that does RV work to find out who thier supplier is.

Like Brad, I think he is talking about the underside of the body of the camper where the pin box attaches, not the lube plate.

I agree we know what dig dog is asking but we don't know the name for it. What ever it is called the material is RV specific and would have to be purchased at a RV dealer.

You may want to check the welding on the frame while it is open. This would be a good time to do any rework. Try a mobile home dealer for a piece of aluminum or plastic. A good RV place may be able to point you towards a supplier in your area. The bottom may not need to be covered completey (sp) leaving some room for storage.

Ours broke on our previous trailer while it was being stored by our dealer. Our dealer ordered a new piece from Keystone, had it shipped inside a trailer that was being delivered, and replaced it for us. I suspect that the actual plastic piece is not all that expensive, but delivery could be a killer. Any chance of getting to Goshen, and having one of the repair shops around their fix it for you? (Fox RV in Middlebury, IN would be one suggestion)
