Fifth wheel hitch

I’m new to fifth wheeling We just bought our first and I’m rigging out the truck. Any suggestions on what brand or type of hitch would be appreciated thank you

We're also new to fifth wheeling, on our 2nd camp out. I can tell you one brand to think twice about before buying, Reece 20K Titan. It's been difficult for me to hook up and disconnect, seems that the trl has to be absolutely level side to side. Of course, it might just be that I'm new at this. Why did we buy this one? It was suggsted by the dealer as the "must have"!

B&W Companion since you have a long bed. Short bed is always the B&W Patriot slider. Buy from eTrailer.com for great prices. Made in the USA with USA made steel, most others are imported mainly from China.

We had a Reese hitch once. It is very unforgiving if you are not perfectly level. Now we have a B&W Companion. Best hitch I've ever had.

We would second CaptJohn's vote for a B&W Companion. We had a Reese and my husband really hated it. The B&W is quick and easy!

I have a Demco Recon. It leaves me with a ton of space in the bed around the hitch.
Rated at 21K, Adjustable height three positions, wrap around jaw with solid bar lock.

I have a Reese Titan 20K and have not experienced any issues hooking up or unhooking, and it is extremely quiet towing down the road. Maybe because I always level the trailer in order to operate the refrigerator when needed even if we are not staying in it.

I had a Pullrite Super 5th in my previous F350. And I have a Reese Elite in my current F350. Would have bought another Pullrite but they did not have one to fit the Ford factory hitch prep at the time. But both hitches have been great.

Some brands have different price level hitches. In that case go with the best.

I got the mopar factory hitch built by Curt. Four point quick install/remove. Exceptional operation and solid as a rock plus quiet.

Would not recommend the cheaper Reese “pro series”. Not well made, noisy, lot of slop and difficult hooking up.

The hitch is a critical piece of the towing package. DON’T GO CHEAP!!!

You wisely bought a long bed truck. No need for a slider hitch. You will be able to go more than 90 degrees without hitting cab.

I just had to get a new hitch due to needing more capacity. I am very happy with the Curt Q24 I got. Previously had a B & W and it served me well.

I currently have a Pullrite Super Slide, but after owning several different ones, I highly recommend the B&W Companion. You will not find a better hitch. Light weight, one person can handle them, except the manual slider might take two, awesome customer service, AND finally, hook up and unhook at any angle any pitch, and I cannot think of anything negative. TrailerSaver BD3 Air Ride Suspension. Smooth, one person can remove, expensive but well worth it to me and our camper. Forgot a glass of water on the island and was surprised when I went inside camper for lunch after about 60 miles driving. Glass still on counter and no water spilled.

I have a 21k pullrite super and had no problems hitching up disconnecting at any angle at all its a good 5er hitch maid in the USA.

Wow so many options LOL. I have the B&W and love it. I can see the head unit in my rear view mirror so hook up is a breeze. I used to have a spotter but found out by accident that i could see the hitch in the mirror. Now I hit the hitch center every time.

I have the B&W slider and can see the head also. With the Husky 5er tailgate no need to drop the tailgate when hooking or unhooking either.

Thank you for all for the help. This will give us some hitches to look at. This all just seem to have fallen into place. I say that after years of planning, wishing, and hoping. We were accepted as camp host up in in the basin (BBNP) this fall and decided we needed more room. We had gone to the RV show in Dallas and fell in love with the 3791RD. We came home and looked on line and there was a 2016 Montana 3791RD for sale 5 miles from us in a RV park. The trailer was clean and loaded. We made an offer and take possession next week. We had traded vehicles the week before. We traded a 2013 Toyota Tundra for a 2015 GMC Sierra 3500. We had been airstreamers and hated to part with “Betsy Jean” (28’ International) but just needed more room if we were going to full timer. The airstream sold last week so it all is working out. Vicki said just follow the signs. We are feeling blessed and looking forward to the road ahead. Thanks again for the information.
