It's finally here

Got a call from the dealer last last night that our 3400 has arrived. They won't be able to PDI before the beginning of next week and we requested that we be able to do our own walk through before the official dealer walk through. He said he would set it up in the shop on Saturday when the service dept is closed so we can operate the slides etc. and spend some time with the unit. We were adamant about the 7000 lb axles when we ordered so that will be one area we will check and will use one of the check lists on this site for our initial inspection. This is our first 5th wheel after having motorhomes so I am somewhat anxious and I have my fingers crossed that Keystone got it right when our Monty was mfg'd. Other than the obvious is there anything specific that we should look for or any recent manufacturing problems we should be aware of before the inspection. Can't wait to get it home and set up at the lake for the summer. Will let you know the outcome of our inspection. Now all we need is to finalize a deal on the TV.

Sounds like you have a good plan, don't let them rush you and play with everything, Tv's, surround sound, take a CD with you, and check all of those other electrical things. Because this time of the year its hard to get service seems as if everyone waits to this time of year to get things done.... Good Luck... GBY....

The one "problem" that seems to be prevalent is water connections not tight enough to keep from leaking either right off the bat or after a few miles. I'd recommend you check under each sink and faucet, hand tightening as needed. Then pull off the panel along the tub/shower base and do the same for the tub faucet and drain. Then, pull out the screws in the panel forward of the connection center in the basement storage area, non-door side. You have to work that panel out. You have to do a little bending but that doesn't hurt it. Check each water connection behind that panel including the hose clamp on the water pump connection.

Or you could wait until you have a leak. The symptoms on ours was a puddle on the floor in the kitchen, coming from under the pantry next to the refrigerator. Three times. Once was the shower. Once was the water pump connection. Once was some other connections near the water pump.

Good luck. The 3400 is a very livable floorplan in my opinion. And the Montana is about the best bang for the buck around.
