2nd Air Conditioner Pricing question
The 2007 price sheet shows separate pricing for the 2nd A/C and the Wire and Frame. When you order the 2nd A/C is the wiring and frame included in that price or do you have to pay for both options to get the 2nd A/C?

With my 2007 3400RL I had to pay for both.

The first option is just for the prep. The a/c option itself is for the 2nd a/c unit. I ordered mine w/ the "prep" and installed a low profile 13,500 btu unit with heat strip after the coach arrived. I did not want the increased height issue with a standard size a/c unit upfront.

You will need both, if you read the 2nd AC option it says prepare and wired required.

I agree with Montana Sky about the low profile unit. My dealer informed me that if I put on a unit like is on the back I would be 13 feet 8 inches to the top.

Absolutely do not order your unit without the install kit. Then at least it can be added without major construction. We ordered the Mountaineer with the second AC and absolutely would not be without it. In the Summer we have run both both AC units to stay comfortable. Our height is 12'9". I added the heat strip prepping for our Ca trip coming up around Christmas.

Like the one poster stated...do not order your unit without the "A/C prep/wiring". I don't think you'll be dissapointed in installing a second A/C. I generally don't use the A/C much, but just having the one in the bedroom, you'll sleep a lot better at night on those hot steamy nights. I also got the prep/wiring for a generator, which I plan to get installed in the near future. But in a nut shell, the small amount of $$$ it may cost to get some options on these units, its a very very small price compared to the total amount the whole unit cost...just think about it I usually don't skimp on something that "I think" I might use....because after the fact you'll pay more for the additional labor etc....and the workmanship will not be covered by your Montana Warranty. Ditto here, Paid for both.
I know people here (in Washington) think I'm crazy for ordering the 2nd AC but they dont realize when I get back to Texas.. I'm gunna need both.
I found it was a lot cheaper to have the coach ordered with all the options, then buy one off the lot and have it done later.

Montana Sky -
I ordered the 2nd AC from the factory. Does that mean it will be the full size AC? I guess I assumed it would be a low profile.

Brad,
Unless things have changed since September when I was at the factory, your 2nd a/c will be the same size as your living room a/c. The only difference is your bedroom a/c will be 13,500 btu.
PS~ If my memory is correct, Rick(Gonfishin) has the standard 13,500 btu a/c on the front of his coach. Check out the picture in his signature, you should be able to see what it is going to look like.

I ordered with the 2nd ac from factory and it was the same as rear only it was the 13,500 unit. GLAD we did because it gets HOT and humid down here in louisiana and one just wan't cut it. At least order with 2nd ac prep.

I was inquiring at one Dealership about the front AC. The salesman said " We never order the front AC, as the climate is pretty mild here". I laughed out loud and told him " Maybe you didn't notice pal, but there are WHEELS under that trailer, so your climate is irrelevant". I guess that salesman figures Florida units don't need artic-pak either.
Thanks Montana Sky - I found the signature. The full size looks a little obnoxious up there, besides the height. I could change it, but I'm afraid the alternative would the the Penguin which gave me fits in the old one (water leaks). Guess I'll take what I'm given and pick another stress.

This is a question that needs accurate inormation. I am getting the second AC in our new rig but I do not want to increase the overall height if I can help it. Guess I will put this one down on my "Questions that need answers" list.

Mine was delivered with the second AC unit installed and it raised the height to 13'2". I noticed that the second unit is neither a Carrier or Dometic and is not as quiet as the conventional AC units. I think as time goes by I'll consider swapping to a quieter, low profile unit but as it stands, I have a large bump on the top of my rig.

Steve,
From the picture it looks like a Brisk Air - which is Dometic. I'm not sure any of the direct feed (non-ducted) ACs are very quiet by nature of design.

DARN!!!! This unit looks so similar to the one in the first trailer we ever used - a small 20 footer without ducted air - that it kept me awake at night. Our plan is to run both units in the hot Texas summer days and hopefully rely on the main ducted unit in the evenings.
That main Dometic unit is QUIET!!!We had our fan running last weekend and could still hear the crickets outside

Steve, I would check that height to make sure. I know on my unit it had that unit and it measured 13'8" so the dealer changed it out to the low profile. Now the highest point is the fan cover which is 13'3"

OK Steve - ya got me bugged. . I just called the Dealer and asked them to either install low profile at the factory or the dealer, but no full height 2nd AC. Funny, she said they just changed one out for a buyer because it wouldn't fit in the garage.
Whew - I love this MOC. I could only wish I was this informed when I bought my first one!!
