I also keep the both open and am in the habit of checking on a regular basis. We also have 2 ceramc heaters if needed.
And yes it does get chilly in Florida, just this AM it was 51°. By January/February we may go all the way down to 35°.

Like the others, we have done that also. Fortunately when it happened last year, we were down here in SW Florida, so it really wasn't cold, we just had to take cold showers that morning. We also have a nice little electric heater that we still use in the winter months to save on propane. Like others have said, "been there; done that" and if this is the worst OOPS you have, count yourself as one of the lucky ones.

Hi Blue,
If you are going to let the trailer run out of propane, you have to make sure you are around to keep things warm.

Non-fatal mistakes result in wisdom. Been there done the same thing.

It looks like the majority leave both valves open. Since I'm getting the 120 gal tank I may not have to be disciplined enough to check the tanks
I like the remote indicator mounted on the inside of the coach. However for now I have other challenges ahead.
Space heaters will be on the "Things to get" list.
Thanks everyone.

I am glad your DW was there so the problem was resolved in a timely manner. There is nothing worse than a broken pipe.
Congratulations on the new trailer!

Blue,
I'm in the minority, I would always prefer to have a full tank when I need it. Now that has made me get up in the middle of the night in very cold weather to make the switch, but I always had a spare tank and warmed up quickly. I've done that in all my units I've ever owned with two tanks. I know most people don't agree but that's just always been a safety net for me. Now I do agree with having that electric heater, they can really warm up a camper, even the size of a Monty.
Just my thoughts, it's worth what you paid for them!

Another thing you can do is have the hot water on electricity only and use less propane this way. Especially if you are on 50 amp hookup. We find this helps a lot. You always have hot water. It is a big draw if you are on 30 amp and wouldn't recommend it on 20 amp.
