Broken pocket door

on my 2014 3402RL, the rear hanger/roller for the bedroom pocket door broke. I'm looking for advice on how to remove the door, fix or replace the door mount and rehang the door. I have a picture of the hanger in the door that is broken off the door. I found a piece of white plastic on the floor. So I'm guessing I need to replace the part mounted to the top of the door. I can't figure out how to remove the door from the front hanger to remove the door.

The above links do show the type slid you have. I found it easier to remove the rail from the top and take the door down, then I could see all the parts. I believe my plastic latch was broken so I just put a screw part way into keep the carrier pin from coming out. The trim in front of the rail made it difficult to get to so just a few screws to get it out and reverse the procedure to replace.

Jim on some of those you may have to pull the trim off to get to the plastic release to remove the door. It cane be a real pane in the butt. Good luck.

I think I'll remove the rail screws and take the whole thing to my workshop to repair.

I got the door down easily by removing the screws in the rail. Some of the screws are mounted into slots in the rail so you can just loosen them and the slide the rail sideways. More useful now that I know it for rehanging the door.
Below is a picture of the 2 rails note the broken catch on the one on the left.



also note the height adjustments are different on the 2 rollers. I think this is because of the domed ceiling in the Montana. My guess in the longer one will be closest to the hall and the short one will be back in the rear of the pocket.

I found the parts on Amazon; they should be here on Monday. It's half the price of an RV parts place and quicker to get here.

you can replace those plastic snap ons with metal ones. i found some on the internet.


if you replace the old with only the new plastic snap ons wrap them with a wire to avoid them breaking loose again.


now my wife keeps the slide doors open when we are driving, she ties them to the wall, no longer any problems.

I purchased these for my pocket doors and the sliding doors in my 3402rl. The pocket for over the stairs next to the pantry however have more of a problem. It appears that the wood that the slide is attached to is loose so the door won't hang correctly no matter what I adjust. Might have to cut a hole in the pantry panel to gain access to the framing.

I have a pocket door in the 3450 RL that refuses to hang square to the opposite wall, so I gave up on the hanger adjustments and just drilled a hole through the door pocket and its frame from the bedroom side, then inserted a hinge pin I had laying around. By drilling the hole at a bit of a downward angle, the pin stays put, and being brass/brass plated, it blends well with the surrounding wood and trim.
We also determined we could minimize the need for the pocket door by swinging open the bathroom door and using the now-unused clear strap to hold the bathroom door "open", covering the pocket door opening. All I had to do was swap the anchor point of the clear strap, and mount the snap on the upper inside corner of the bathroom door. It's not a perfect, but it is working, and has allowed me to get to other projects without totally doing without a privacy door when needed.

mine had the track pulled off at the back. pain to fix but did without cutting into the kitchen cabinets. I believe the damage is caused by the door bouncing while hanging.

I made two opposed wedges and put them under the door when traveling one has a strap so I can pull it and take up slack then the door is not bouncing on the track / rollers but the floor. Had no issues since then

I did similar to oeeman. Ours pulled the track right over the head of the tiny screws they used attached a new section of track and used screws with larger heads. Our door is approx 2" above the opening's floor, found a piece of 2x2 I had laying around, attached it to the floor under the door, the door just sits on the 2x2 when into the pocket. No problem since.

There is a release on the top of the door to let it fall free of the roller-hangers. jfaberna's post above shows the whole hanger with the release. When I had warranty service done on my Monty to adjust the pocket door, the tech grabbed the wood panel on the living room side and lifted it away swung the bottom of the panel away from the door so that he had room to get his hands in the space to release the latches. After the door was adjusted, the wood panel swung back into place.

I can confirm that on the 3402RL the front pocket door that separates the kitchen and the shower area at the top of the stairs has a wooden panel facing the kitchen that can be removed far enough to get your hands on the rollers and their disconnect lever.

The bedroom slide door does not, but your can easily remove the rail screws as I did.

Jim-- Had the same problem with my pocket door on our 2013 unit. I took the trim off and slid the door out, took the roller mechanisms out and replaced them with a better roller mechanism with a fully metal clasp to go around the pin. Got the parts at our local dealer and with the full metal clasp it has nothing that can break or snap like the plastic clasp. I had the plastic rollers and clasps on our closet doors also and replaced them to be on the safe side. Good luck!
