Montana 3820fk Front Cap Leak
We have the front window on our Montana. Every time it rains we end up with up to a half gallon of water in the well of that window. There are no water streaks to let us know where it's coming from. We've had it in twice to get it fixed and both looked at the roof, one of them put some sealant around the roof antenna but nothing has worked. This leak concerns us as we are worried about the structure of the unit caused but the volume of water that accumulates. Has anyone had this problem and can offer information on the cause or fix?

We got a small chip last trip and I had Safe- Lite come and repair.
I pointed out to the glass guy how the rubber molding was starting to gap at the top. He then showed me that the molding didn’t hold the glass in its just a dress up for the edge. When he pulled it out water drained from it, he said that’s what it’s supposed to do. Of course I asked what holds the glass and he had a used windshield and showed me the adhesive used. So possibly your front glass has a gap in the adhesive seal around it?

We're looking at a 3810/3811 and the front window is a concern. Personally, I would rather it just be the solid front cap. Don't need that window anyway and in CG it will only be overlooking the other RVs and the road traffic in the CG... boring. Plus its single pane glass so you have a potential condensation issue. Be gone.

We're currently experiencing the 3820FK front cap window leak as well. Mobile tech pulled and sealed the top half of window gasket with urethane several days ago and still leaks. When rainy weather breaks I suppose we'll try again.

IMHO a window on the front of an RV is a recipe for disaster. Look at all the issues with windows on Class c,s with the front windows.

Catherine-- You don't say what year your 3820 is. Can you tell us that and maybe we can give you more info on possible repair. If it is still under warranty and you're not having success from your dealer, I'd be calling Keystone Customer Service and see if they can recommend another dealer with a more experienced service tech OR possibly they may recommend a glass repair facility like MidMOTraveler had. When calling Keystone Customer Service be civil and don't get mad at the Rep because they are just there to try and help you and if they feel anger coming over the phone it just turns them off. Good luck and let us know what comes of this matter.

After two trips to dealers to try and figure how water was getting into the window, we finally figured that the downspouts on front driver side of the trailer had a small hole under the gutter. Once we filled it with silicone, it stopped leaking. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for reporting back. So often we never know the outcome and that’s as much a part of the help as the answers people give.

I have a brand new 2020 Montana 295rl with same problem for weeks owned it in October. Repaired once by dealer and leaking again. Gutter pathway is a weird cause but not surprised at all anymore. Can you explain the water pathway from the gutter hole?

Well on our second attempt mobile tech pulled entire window gasket and water again poured out. After drying several days the gasket perimeter was completely resealed with urethane and there have been no leaks including 14 hours of steady rain yesterday. We have also noticed that when cooking on propane stove condensation will form on the inside of window depending on temp's and cooking time which runs down.
