Trailer Wheels Camber?

I have a Montana High Country.
When I turn a very tight radius the inside rear wheel cambers/cocks to the inside, (not aligned with the wheel ahead of it}.

When I straighten the rig out it re aligns.

Is this normal?

Mine moves around too. I think it is normal as long as tire wear is not excessive.

Yes it is normal the rims are designed to bend. That is why the ST tires have extra strong side walls.

Yes,same backing up.There is a lot of stress on the sidewall of the tires when making sharp turns or jack knifing the trailer when backing up. This is the reason why you need st tires because they can handle the side pressures on the tires. 14 or 16 ply tires can handle the stress if they are an all steel tire. Also be sure to carry a torque wrench to keep the wheels torqued. I check mine everyday when traveling . With all the pressure put on the sidewalls i can usually find 1 or 2 lugs that are slightly more loose than the others.

Welcome newcomb to the forum.
Your question reminds me of when we owned our first 5th wheel back in 1990 and did our first tight turn and saw the way the the tires were way out of wack. I quickly stopped and thought for sure I had broken the axles.
Like everyone said, it is normal.

Here is a related question: When going in a straight line, the wheels on the right side of the trailer have identical camber, however, the forward tire has excessive wear on the outside edge, and the rearward tire has excessive wear on the inside edge. Am I correct in assuming this is because the forward wheel is in a "toe-in" misalignment and the rearward wheel is in a "toe-out" misalignment? If so, how did this happen? Or could the problem just be the crappy OEM Chinese tires?

Start by checking the distance between the front and rear tire tread on the left and right wheels and compare.

It does look pretty concerning during a tight turn ... huh? Don't be overly influenced by the "ST only tire for a fiver" crowd on the MOC. Many of us weary of the China Bombs have used LT tires (depending on fiver weight) for years on different Montana's with lasting peace of mind.

Welcome to the forum! As has been said, this is a terrific place to learn and share. Having towed a dual axle fiver since 1999 I’ll agree... it’s normal to see that front tire ‘flex’.

Additionally, I like that you added a photo to your post... worth a 1,000 words isn’t it?!

If ever in AZ please reach out... just met (in person) our first MOC people - at the local Montana dealer! That was very cool! Very nice people!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Newbie here...welcome to the Club!
The first time I saw this on our 2016 3000RE Legacy Edition I thought the "China Bombs" were probably screaming STOP!. Sold those 5 with 3,000 miles on them ASAP to a local construction Landscaping/Guy and got the new 614's mounted ASAP!

Normal. When parking, I always raise the tires off the ground and then set back down to "relax" the tires.

I usually just pull straight a foot or two. To "Relax" the tires.
On another note, my 5ver is in a local shop right now, both axles were bent (I had no idea) camber and toe in were both off. I'm having new Dexter brakes, new bearings and seals, 3 new leaf springs (replaced one on the road last Sept.) and shackles are being boxed in, with cross bars welded from shackle to shackle. (except two of the cross braces, are bolt on, because if I ever need to replace galley tank they are in the way) I decided after reading how cheap all these things are and having a leaf spring "pin" break last Sept. to beef up my entire suspension. We Boondock most of the time, and I hate that these things are built so cheap. This isn't a cheap fix I'm having done, But well worth it.
