Eyebrow lights

Our eyebrow lights burned out before we had our Monty a year. Dealer (not where we bought our unit) says Keystone won't cover under warranty. That's ok, but I thought some others here had their eyebrow lights covered?

Also, what is a fair price for replacement?

Less than a year, should have been covered.

My light unit over the kitchen counter came apart during travel. Trailer was 13 months old. Keystone said "out of warranty". My dealer gave me the name of the light unit manufacturer to call and purchase a new unit. The lady at the light manufacturer say " our light units have three year warranty on them" BUT since Keystone purchased the units from them - Keystone had to request the replacement unit under warranty. I talked to Keystone customer service - they needed the request from my dealer to keystone and then keystone would request from the light manufacturer. RED TAPE!!
The lady from the lady company called me direct and said since Keystone had me running all around. She was going to send the new unit directly to me NOT Keystone nor the dealer. not sure if it is the same light manufacturer.

Thanks. This dealer really doesn't want to do anything since we were looking at purchasing through them but we didn't because 1. They would have had to order it and we would have missed a month of camping while we waited for it to come in and 2. They quoted us $12,000 more than the unit that was nearly exactly what we wanted, sitting on the RV dealers lot in Virginia. Couldn't/wouldn't come near matching the price.

Now we're paying the price for not buying from them. We've had some other minor repairs done under warranty and yes, they take their time and make it difficult.

And I for one am TOTALLY shocked that Keystone RV would try to get out of not honoring their factory warranty!!!! You have to be kidding me!

If and when we would have to replace ours, I would be looking for marine-type led strips since they are totally waterproof. There are many varieties available, if you have a marine supply store nearby, it may be worth a look-see. I have seen pricing for two foot lengths range from $10-$30 per strip. I think you would have to remove the ones you have and take them with you to make sure the plugs were compatible. I have wondered if there is an in-line fuse on the Montana lights that could be a problem? Does anyone know?

$12,000 savings would have offset alot of minor inconvience and lack of eyebrow lights in my walk thru life. To me, $100 out of pocket for new led's is well worth not having to deal with warranty and dealers. Now replacing a refrigerator would require a new paragraph ...

My under awning lights went Dim and I called My dealer they said Keystone WILL cover them But I heard from Other RVer,s that The Stock Dometic ones are Junk so I said the heck with it and just ordered a 16ft strip from an American company called Superbrightled.com they have gotten great reviews and they are used for Marine applications so you would think they are pretty tough ,we will see AND by the way they are SUPER Easy to replace the Eyebrow AND Awning LED's here is the link https://www.superbrightleds.com/more.../attributes/14

X2 what bigskyjimmy said, Superbrightleds.com is the way to go. I ordered several of the 18" blue and warm white led strips and going to mount them in the Montana and my truck. High quality and water proof too. Placed the order and had them in hand in 3 days, great service!

Going to put 4 of the Blue light strips in my truck bed for lighting and the warm white ones in several of the outside compartments in the Montana.

If you are trying to get work done by a dealer that you did not buy your unit from is near an impossibility. Most will not work on units not purchased from them and if they do they put you at the bottom of the list because they work on those purchased from them first. If the dealer says they were told by Keystone that the lights are not warrantied they are feeding you a line and just don't want to work on the unit. You have two choices-- contact Keystone Customer Service and ask them directly and see what they say since your unit is still under warranty OR do as dieselguy and bigskyjimmy had said and purchase them on your own. If Keystone will honor the warranty see if they will send the replacement parts to you and pay an independent service tech to install them because of the problems with the dealer and/or you can put them in yourself. It is a relatively easy job. They are just held in by silicone if I remember correctly.

In the next to worthless owner's manual, there is a discussion about the warranty, and it's exclusions. One of the paragraphs of exclusions says:

Routine maintenance including, without limitation, caulking, re-caulking and waxing of the body of
the recreational vehicle, tightening screws, brake squeak/lock-up/adjustment, latches, locks, combustion
systems, changing fuses, or light bulbs, and maintaining the air conditioning and heating systems;

Yeah Rohrman but in 2012 they did Not have LED eyebrow OR under awning LED lights(which are part of the Dometic Awning)and MY dealer said Keystone DOES cover them and they have replaced many of them on Warranty, they have been Problematic and that is why I chose to go with a better quality one myself instead , it is not like they are a 921 or 1076, 1156 etc.. or similar interior or scare/porch light which you are right they do not cover

What is at the connection end of the lights? We're thinking of ordering from the link Bigskyjimmy provided, but my husband's worried about the connection. Is there a hole in the Montana he'll have to seal up when he's done? Or is there a connector?

Once you peal off the silicone you will see the original wires coming through the cap, just cut them and splice on to the new ones. Push wires into cap and silicone the hole over real good. Not to hard to do.
