Association Island Hendersons Bay NY

Fabulous location--lake side (really an island) and at moment great nature preserve. Very pricey ($57) for ammenities currently offered. Requires multiple nite stay for desireable sites. Marina available at extra charge. One shower building w/ 8 toilets for 300 sites. New building due to open soon. New pool. All lakefront sites set up for motorhomes. Interior sites will accommodate campers, trailers, motorhomes, tents but are not attractive--weedy and often w/o trees or picnic tables. Gravel pads. Having said all this--they are hoping to be a resort destination which should happen if they can invest a lot of $$$ above what has already been spent. The nature preserve may fall by the way if they overdevelop. Keep an eye on this one.

I am aware of this campground -- never stayed there. I emailed for a brouchure and checked it out on their website... it looks very nice. Yes, $57 is very pricey.

Went back for July 4 weekend as we had a family gathering nearby that could not accommodate our rig. Pretty well-packed--which revealed that sites are quite close together. Second bath house not up yet--pop up folks had a long haul to toilets. Owners requested that we only run our AC if we had a generator. Reportedly were suffering from an electricity shortage with so many campers on grounds!!! No problem except that the 4th was extremely warm and muggy w/out the usual lake effect breeze.
