Looking at 2016 High Country 350BH

We looked at a High Country 350BH today and really like the floor plan.

My wife wants to buy now as she is "Tired of looking at campers" and we have a trip planned for Labor Day weekend.

I have reservations about Keystone quality having read many threads on the subject.

Am I being paranoid?
It's a good deal of money going out and the last thing I want is problem after problem that I have to deal with, not her.

Thank you for any and all input. I want to hear good, bad and ugly.

IMO which means nothing the High Country is the best bang for the buck in the Montana line.
All brands have problems read their forums the Montana line is no better no worse than any other. You may never have a problem read this forum most have few problems some have none.

You have to remember that the forum is the place for folks who have problems to get answers. If you look at the number of Montana's sold every year and the number of members here on the forum you'll see that most owners have few if any problems. Yes there are folks who have problems and some of the problems are serious, but the odds are with you if you buy the new rig.

Read my recent posts, decide for yourself. I bought my 2016 HC 375FL on 2 June. I visited it in the dealer today, it is waiting on parts, they told may take a couple more weeks today. I may get to use it before winter.

I can certainly understand you having reservations. Since you have not yet made the purchase do some careful dealer research. Buying and establishing a relationship with a good responsive customer focused dealer and a good service department with competent technicians will eliminate many potential frustrations. And you can do much much worse than purchasing a high country. We see plenty of them in our travels.

The GOOD: We have a HC 305RL and love it... now.

The BAD: it took us about a year to get the bugs out. Only 1 major bug that kept us from camping for a few weeks, but several minor bugs.

The UGLY: The ugly thing is (and it shouldn't be this way), 1retired06 is right - a lot depends on the dealer. Some are responsive and fix problems rapidly (or even before you get the unit), and some are not. Do your dealer research as carefully as you select a camper. Keystone (as well as SOBs) rely on dealers too much.

Buy the High Country if you like it, but expect problems. Do a good Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). Don't make your Labor Day weekend your first camping trip in your new unit.

We have really enjoyed our 2014 305RL High Country.Only 1 real prob lem ,a water leak from underneath when driving in rain on first trip Took dealer 1 1/2 hrs. to fix. Several little things that I fixed easily We haven't seen any other 5er that we like any better than ours.

Thank you all for the responses so far.
This will be the first "new" purchase for us. We started with a small pop up, then a 26' TT with 2 bunks and no slides. Then it was on to a 34' triple bunk 5th wheel with one slide.

I say "new" because this Montana had been lightly used according to the sales guy we talked to.
The story goes the previous(current) owner bought it last fall, stored it through the winter and then put it at his lake cabin. Supposedly they didn't use it much and used the cabin more. He brought it back to the dealer and put it on consignment yesterday while we were looking at other campers.
We went and spent a good 30-40 minutes looking it over today. It appears to be in almost new condition still, the only flaw that stuck out to me was a bubble in the vinyl floor in the living area.

We have a HC343RL and love the layout. It's very comfortable. We have had multiple issues, mainly with the AC. And, my husband is extremely hard to please-BUT. Having said that, it's a big purchase and it's important to make sure you have a great dealer with super customer service. Good luck with your new HC!

Most manufacturers are building units way too fast, driven by the record number of buyers. As delivered to the dealer, there will be issues. As delivered to the customer, there will be issues unless the dealer is a very good one and/or the buyer takes at least a day to do ***di and doesn't sign any paperwork until all the issues are taken care of. No problem free brands, only golden problem free units. My take on todays manufacturing. John

When we bought our first trailer, 1970, Layton low end 18 foot tag along, I took an rv maintenance repair course over three weekends. Much has changed, but one of the most useful things I have done. Meant to add my wife was not old enough buy a drink yet.

We are picking up our new HC 340BH on 9/10. Looking forward to getting it. We looked at Forest River Sandpipers as well as Grand Design Reflections. We liked all three, but chose the High Country.

Have a 2016 HC 362rd and love it. Couple minor problems but all is good.

So we didn't end up with the 350BH.
Instead we got a 351BH.

Couple minor differences, residential refrigerator, only has a 4 point leveling system instead of 6 point, this one is brand NEW not used.
Major difference, this one was over 8K cheaper.

Good Luck do not drive it off the lot or complete the purchase without a comprehensive PDI. Even if it takes 2 days.
