First trip a success!

We're back from our first trip and all I can say is, WE LOVED IT! Our Mountaineer performed flawlessly! It was so nice to come back to it each evening. I could go on and on but you all know where I'm coming from. We were going to head to Pensacola in a couple of weeks but I think Ivan has changed those plans. My sister lives there and by the grace of God she still has a home with only minor damage to the yard, fence, trees, etc. Now to come up with another idea. Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement.

Oh, one question. We used the furnace for the first time and every time it clicked on it woke me up. It sounded like a vacuum cleaner being turned on to me. We went out and bought an electric heater (couldn't fine one here in the summer.) Is this normal? I guess it's the blower that is so loud. Is it one of those noises that you'll get used to in time?

I guess I must be used to it, but we don't use the heat a lot. We turn it way down at night as we like it pretty cold. The furnace in our new rig is so much better and does not have those 5-degree variances like we have had in the past. AC is the same.

Congratulation and glad to hear your trip was a success. I have the 2980rl and it does not seem to be loud. I also use heaters.

Congrats on your first trip!!!! Yes, I think our furnace is loud and we just had it into the dealer to be fixed (needed a new panel of some sorts because it wasn't working) and they checked out the whole thing. Maybe because you are in such a small area (camper) that it's so loud. It wakes my husband up too so we keep the fireplace going a lot of the time. Plus why not let the CG pay for the heat instead of us? LOL I don't hear it that much but then again I can tune most things out. Huh? *wink*

I use 2 electric heaters, one up front and one in the living room. If it gets cold while we are out I will turn the furnace on to warm things then let the elecrtic maintain.

My wife and I can appreciate your excitement. We've camped in our Montana, purchased last March, about 15 times now and the thrill of returning to our "home away from home" still continues.

As mentioned in previous posts, using 1-2 small portable heaters will go a long way to keep you comfortable and save gas ($). At the same time, we've used our furnace a couple times and it didn't seem annoyingly loud. I'll bet that as you get more accustomed to sleeping in your Mountaineer the distraction will subside.

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Yes, that furnace can be rather loud. Like others have mentioned, we use electric heaters to keep the noise down.

Glad to hear you had a good time. We pick ours up this week end and take a couple of travel days to get it to the stick house. Looking forward to our shakedown cruise in mid October.

Thanks for sharing in our excitement everyone and for the comments and suggestions. We fully intend to heat with electric heaters but couldn't find them here in the summer. I still want to pick up another for the bedroom. I just didn't think about getting weather from 102° to the 30's, shiver me timbers! Live and learn...next time I'll be prepared!

Stiles, enjoy your shakedown and congrats!

Congratulations to MeinMo and Stiles on the new units. We've had ours for about two months now and with winter approaching its almost time to get it ready to hibernate for the winter. The Montana is so much warmer than our old TT that we will probably camp later this year than we did last. We just need to keep track of the weather and make sure we don't freeze anything up. We spent our first year in a seasonal site and we really looked forward to the weekend and getting to our "home away from home". Terrie likes this kind of ruffin' it. A chilled bottle of wine around the campfire, nice comfortable bed and hot shower, and a comfortable place to listen to the stereo or watch TV. Not quite like our backpack excursions into Colorado's wilderness areas. Best of luck with the new Montana 5ers.
