Heading for the Races

Hello MOCs,
We've been away for a few weeks and did we have forum withdrawals! But that is soon to be fixed. Came home to our new laptop waiting for us and will be busy trying to figure out how to hook it up to our cell phone for the Internet and MOC.
Now we're home to regroup and reload and then it's off to Arizona with a few detours. We will be in Lake Elsinore area Oct 3-15, then on to Indio and Desert Hot Springs thru Oct.29. Then we will be on the Colorado River for Oct 30/31 and arrive in Phoenix Nov.1 for NASCAR races. We're looking for some good RV places in and around Phoenix for after the race week. Anybody know of any good ones?

Hi Chuck and Linda,
What part of the Phoenix area is the racetrack? There are many places to stay but would like to recommend something relatively close to where your action is. We're still on the road..... we're currently in Davenport, IA. Tomorrow we head for Omaha, NB. So we are making progress. Sounds as if you have a nice little trip layed out. With the new laptop you should no longer suffer from the MOC withdrawal!

There are tons of nice places to stay all around the Phoenix area so it doesn't really matter where you are..... it's just that we have stayed at some of them and would happily recommend the ones nearest to wherever you will be....... Ok... see you later.... HamRad

Hi Dennis and Mary Kay,
Yep, NASCAR calls us! The racetrack is southwest of Phoenix, near Goodyear area. We know that the Estrella area is supposed to have some places but we haven't checked that out yet. We will be staying at the racetrack during the week (and weekend of Nov. 7) of the race but will leave on the following Monday after the race weedend. We've been to Phoenix several times but never with an RV so we thought we'd check it out. If you know of any places that were special we'd appreciate hearing about them. (You were the ones that turned us on to the Flying Flags RV park in Buellton) After that we are headed to the Casa Grande area to one or our resort membership places. We thought we'd check out the "sunbird" stuff in Arizona.
Glad to hear the Rally was such a success. We are definitely planning on the next one wherever it is! We enjoyed reading everyone's reports and seeing the pictures.
So now you are "meandering" through the midwest on you way home it seems. Hope you have more happy RVing.

Hello Chuck and Linda,
We've never stayed on the west side of the area. I know there are some nice parks over that way. The place we've stayed a couple of times is Usery Mountain park. It is located on the north east side of Mesa. Go to my PictureTrail site and you can view some of our pics from that area. They have electric and water and a dump station but no sewer connections. Spaces are very far a part as a rule and very large. Most are pull thru type. Ok... good luck... We'll see you later... Dennis and Mary Kay

There is a really nice (fairly new) KOA in Phoenix. We stayed there for about 5 days several years ago. Don't know the Phoenix area well although I've been there a dozen times (my sister lived there and her boys still do - she is buried there so I visit once in a while). I think it is at the western edge of Phoenix and I think there was some kind of race track that was being rebuilt or built when we were there that we had to pass to get to the RV Park. Check it out - may be still okay. We were impressed at the time.

Hey Parrothead and HamRad
Thanks for the RV parks names in Phoenix. We will definitely check them out. We've been doing some research too and find there are MANY parks and resorts in the area..just need to try a couple of these from our lists and your suggestions.
