RV Keyless Entry

Has anyone installed this lock or another lock?

Thanks in advance for your comments and experiences.

I replaced both door locks on our rig with the those from RV Lock. I found the best deal was actually from Camping World, as it came with the keypad and key-fob. I programmed the key-fob to work on both doors and gave the second fob to my bride. After 18 months of use I am very pleased with the operation of the units. For us, the batteries on the locks last about 6 months. One piece of advice, if you go with the remote keypad you should install it as close to the door as reasonably possible.

I was wishing this would be a up grade on the new Montana's and Big Sky. I think it would be nice to have.

We have it installed and love it but just make sure you keep the batteries for both the fob and lock handy. The fob batteries are 25A's and you can get them from Radio Shack. Also make sure you keep the actual key with you outside the camper just in case the batteries poop out while it is locked, otherwise it is great to push the button while you are walking up to the door and the door unlocks!

We bought direct online.

Had Lippert install it last year. Tow different tech came out to the Rally to try and get it to work. It worked off and on for about six months and hasn't worked since.

Dick,

We had a similar issue early on but once I was able to clear out the memory and reprogram per the user manual no issue since.

Our dead bolt is hanging up on something. I'm going to have to take it apart and see what I can find.

Captain Joe,My friend has it on his Grand Designs and he likes it O.K. but in his opinion he would not spend the money on one if he did not have it already, Also Grand Designs stopped putting them on because they were having too many Warranty claims on them ,it is just for convienence and you can turn it off and just use the Key they are pointless in his opinion

Jimmy,

How does your friend like his Grand Design RV? We heard the same guys who use to run Keystone started this company. We saw one at the Hershey show and they look well built.

Oops...highjacked the thread....

Bigboomer, we full time with Our Grand Designs buddies and was with him when he bought it and Yeah he likes it and so do I they are a pretty 5th Inside and Out and I know 3 other people with them as well ,All 4 of them are having problems with Slides,Seals,Decals, fit and finish etc.. and they are not happy with their Dealer Paul Everett RV here in the West dealing with the problems and in my Opinion Montana has more features for the same money or less as Grand Designs ,give them a few years to work out the Bugs and I think they will be a player, the old saying "Beauty is only skin deep" applies to Grand Designs... For Now,He asked my Opinion before he bought it and I said Yeah they are nice looking but do you want to be a Guinea pig for a new company he said he would and now he is paying for it

I like to read posts and decide for myself. I did want these locks, now I have changed my mind. Unless they ( fob and lock) have long battery life, I will just turn the key! Lol.

Another option, but maybe a bit more expensive.

Leave the door unlocked, ....and a well trained Rottweiler chained to the steps.

Our MH has a key fob that is supposed to unlock/lock both one of the door locks (there are two) and the basement door locks. It works good for the basement, both locking and unlocking, not so good with the door. Since the door has two locks, one being a dead bolt, I have to use two keys anyway...bottom line...the key fob is no good for the entrance door.

I added one to our Monty and love it. I agree, make sure you always take a key with you.

Hi

Amazing what happens when you read the manual!

I have been told by my selling dealer and 2 Camping Worlds that are Keystone dealers that keystone doesn’t allow them to have the manuals.

I guess if Keystone didn’t deliver the trailer with the manual included in the paperwork then the dealer is just out of luck when he tries to fix something.
