Baja
Planning a January trip to San Felipe Baja California, is there a good app for Rv Parks in Baja? Also I have done boarder crossings in the past, never with a RV, any suggestions? We are thinking of going down through Tijuana and back via Mexacali if anyone has recommendations of places to stay it would be appreciated.

We were in Baja last winter for 2mos. And loved it. The road from Mexicali to San Felipe was excellent. Camp grounds in San F. Are somewhat rundown. Hydro is usually 30 amp or even 15 amp. and should be tested before plugging in. Water is fine but we bought reverse osmosis water for drinking and cooking. Kiki's campground is in town, on the ocean, and is about as good as it gets. Most spots are tight for big rigs. There are 2 other CGS at the other end of town that are acceptable, on the ocean, and larger than Kiki's. Check out the city internet site to find the history, the layout and the businesses. We found all of Baja safe, warm, and friendly, but amenities wise pretty sparse.

you can also contact baja winters and ask them questions on the baja.
http://www.bajawinters.com/
or you can just look at there site and get some ideas.
we were taught that if you get lost in going through Tijuana hire a taxi to take you to the correct road.

Great info, artfuldodger, curious whether you have traveled the Tijuana to Ensenada, San Felipe route. If so what did you discover? Also is there any truth to the rumor that the check points tend to ransack RV’s?

Did not travel that route. We had nothing but good, respectful encounters from the checkpoint people.

I’m curious why anyone would visit Mexico. Crime is rampant, encounters with locals are sometimes dicey, you can’t drink the water or trust anything to work, and on and on....
Not being argumentative, just genuinely want to know.

Try Pete's Camp in San Felipe, when we were there about 5 years back with the Escapees, it didn't have any power, but when we were leaving they said there were going to put all services in, right on the beach, nice restaurant on site and just a few miles from San Felipe.

Yep...JMHO, but I'm not going to Mexico. Not worth it.
