Advice on Good Sam Travel Assist
Has anyone used this to get home from a long trip away? I am going to Alaska this summer and wondered if I get in an accident or such how to get me and the trailer home.
Thanks.

Very interested in this also. We are considering dropping AAA in favor of GS because of the trailer and tow vehicle assistance if necessary. Please share your experiences!

I have only had Coach-net ERS and have not had to use it yet. Knock on wood. But I did a lot of reading here and on the Open Roads forum before signing up. Good Sam definitely had more complaints about service, or lack of it, than Coach-net. Don't know if that is simply because they have far more members, or if they do not provide as good service. You can take that info for what it is worth.

The one time that I needed roadside assistance, Onstar sent a deck tow truck to load my truck on to take it 65 km. to the nearest GM dealer. CAA RV Premier sent a truck to tow the trailer to the campground two blocks away from the GM dealer. Everything worked out great.

Paul we also have AAA and have coverage on all our cars (wife's, both Daughter's and mine). We also have it on our truck and 3160. It is not cheap, although I think a lot of it is because we still have the daughter's cars on there. Wife is looking at Good Sam but I don't know what we will do. I changed the last tire on my truck next to the freeway because I did not want to wait for a AAA associate to get there.
I did use them to unlock my Honda Accord at work one day, another moment of forgetfulness. ;-(

FYI - Travel Assist is for medical issues and includes travel back home, and even returning truck/trailer. It is not tow coverage. Thanks for the info anyway.

We've had Coach-Net for five years and have been very happy with it. They did have a screw up once on us (a night shift person thought they'd dispatched a tow truck when the previous person hadn't), but really made it right and very quickly. We've had to use it a total of three times, a nail in a tire, a truck issue, and something that turned out not to be a problem at all, always extremely far from home and with very good results.

Yes, the OP is asking about Travel Assist from Good Sam which is completely different than roadside assistance. In our case we have always had road side but have yet to purchase travel assist. As we get older it is certainly something we have considered and coupled with the fact of leaving perhaps a spouse(wife) to deal with things totally on their own is of great concern should something happen.
My DW(nurse) is always concerned about this but of course you can't let the what ifs stop one from living life to the fullest!
Hopefully a member will come along and add to this discussion as it would be of interest to us all.

We have Travel Assist and hope to never need it. We were in Fairbanks, AL in 2013 and our neighbor had a stroke and passed away. His wife flew home and Travel Assist hired a driver to take his motorhome and toad home. They picked up the unit within a couple of days after the wife left. Don't know how the trip went but I was impressed that they would transport from Alaska back to the lower 48.

I am understanding the difference...sorry about confusing the post and OP. So travel assist is an insurance policy that helps you get home in a medical emergency. What's the cost?

We have a friend traveling in a motorhome a couple years ago. She was in Florida, when her husband (He had Parkinson's) got very ill. She is a registered nurse, and luckily they had Good Sam's Travel Assist. She said they were wonderful. Got her and her husband back home to Rhode Island, as well as their motor home. Sadly, her husband passed away about 3 weeks after they got home. Because of their experience, we purchased it last year and renewed it this year.
