Anyone got pics of the light upgrades when lit at night? How bright are the white LED strips that you’re using for the backup lights? Thanks

The LED lights are a lot brighter.

The LED back up lights are bright. However, I will not back up n a tight place without a spotter. I think the main purpose of the back up lights is to let others know that you are in reverse; not to actually help you see.

I'm the kind of guy likely to do simple upgrades "just because" but to be honest I don't see why to bother changing perfectly functional taillights to LED. Internal lights to save power when boondocking, sure. But for taillights, how much better is LED really?

What did you have to do as far as fit on getting your lights installed?. How much trimming is necessary?

None, direct replacement.

They were not "perfectly functional". The original lights were so dim you could hardly see them in the day. I don't know how to quantify it, but the LED lights are a great deal brighter. Not only are they brighter, but now I have two red lights instead of one. If it keeps someone from smashing into the back of me, well worth it. Perhaps you missed the photos.

Mine were done shortly after the factory lights rusted. Used lights from etrailer that were an exact fit in the rear cap. Four taillights/turn signals/stoplights lot more effective than the crappy light fixtures used by the factory. Etrailer also has the retrofit led clearance lights...pop off old lense, remove bulb, plug in cable from new lens that has led in cover...done.

I did the same mod Scottz did a few weeks ago. My friend I travel with says they are much more visible on the road than the original. Thanks to Scottz for the links and pics.

Thanks. So far, I really like the Maxxima sealed lights. I had them on my previous trailer for 8 years, so problems.

Laydback, they were optronics stl42rb units on etrailer.com. search on round, led, optronics and the etrailer site will get you there.

Our rig isn't a Legacy, but we changed to LED fixtures and the difference is significant.

Here is the wiring color code for hardinrob and anyone else that needs it. Keep in mind, these are the colors for my Montana and the lights I purchased; yours is not necessarily the same. Also remember that LED's are polarity sensitive; they only work when hooked up properly.
