front skirting

We purchased a skirt for the front of our fifth wheel and are having all kinds of problems with it. It attaches to the front with snaps which does not keep it up. Every time the wind blows down comes the skirt. So then we tried heavy duty velcro....don't know if it is the cold temps or what but that hasn't worked either. What I have seen that works are similar to the snaps but have a sort of turn key. Don't know what they are called or where to find them. Can anyone help us with this? Sure would like to fix it. Thanks all.

I think what you want is called "directional fastners". Check out www.a1foamandfabrics.com and see if that is what you want. Click on "snaps, fasteners and screws" and then on "directional fasteners". Happy hunting.....

One place to look would be at a marine supply house. Check out this web site
http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/
in the search window enter PKO 994 and it will show you an example of a marine "turn snap" used to hold down boat canvas.
Good luck. I hope this helped.

Stiles, you're right on with the directional fasteners. I used these when I built my 36 ford convertible and they work great and hold in any kind of wind. Great Product!

Meanwhile, would tightening the snap on the cover help? I'm thinking squeezing the springy sides a bit with a pair of pliers. Just a bit so they still snap on reasonably easy. Might be worth a try. If it doesn't work, then go to the directional snaps.

West Marine carries the fastners for canvas which is the twist fastner you are looking for. Westmarine.com

Thanks folks for all the help and advice. That is exactly what we were looking for. We went to West Marine and they were great. Knew this was the right place to ask for help. Thanks again
