New sofa bed - what do you do with the opening

Went looking at the 3665 again yesterday and we pulled the sofa bed out to check out how much space was available. When we noticed that there is a rather large opening between the end of the bed and the wall. What do you put in there to fill the space? Does something go in there? Although the air mattress would go on top, it seems that your head would not be supported?

I thought that too when I first looked inside the bed of my 3605RL. But when the matress is inflated, it works just fine. You'd never know that there is no support under the head area.

Like Joe, when we inflate the air mattress it fills the space behind leaving only a small gap a pillow can't fall thru.

Thanks everyone! I sort of thought that the air mattress would be firm enough but the DH said, can't be and we must be missing something.

Thanks again,
