I guess we have one of the better ones built we haven't had any problems with are fifth wheel in 2 years that we have had it. It's to bad that you had to have the motor's & gear boxes replaced but at least you have the you have the better ones now. I do all my own work on are's so when something does come up it doesn't sit at the dealer and collect dust we use are's all the time winter or summer it not in one place much.

Great idea if a Lawyer can be found to work for free. I myself don't have deep pockets to pay for one. Good luck

Hmmmm.....maybe the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Protection Agency? No need to fund it ourselves, let the government bring it's weight to the fight???

Well just upgraded the tires to Sailuns, fixed the Electric Levelers, and resolved the leaking gearboxes on our HCM 379RD.

The Gear box leak may be heat related.

I'll pass this along: Norco had a communications issue with their Chinese suppler which resulted in poor/light built motors and gear boxes. Since they are used in most cable slide systems (BAL Accuslide) they have no way to track them, BUT Norco is replacing them as they fail.
So you may want to check with your repair facility as they have gotten parts from Norco at no charge.
This info was gained directly from a Norco Rep while they were replacing our Motor and Gear Box a couple of weeks ago.

Do we actually have to wait till they fail? You know they will likely do so months apart. I don’t relish the idea of 4 visits to the dealer!!

Is there anyway to verify if you have the light built model??

And is Norcold paying for the labor to change them out???

These are the reasons I say a recall is warranted and if Norcold has admitted there is a flaw in mfg. then the government should step in and force a recall

Do you have two 5th wheels? The one in your signature is different.

Lawsuit

I agree with this post. Let's start a class action lawsuit. Quality control on my new 2018 305rl is a joke. I also have leaking motors and just talked with my dealer that I bought the trailer from. Drip pans is not a fix. New motors that do not leak? Keep me posted with lawsuit. I have enough pictures if you need.

Most newer Montanas use Schwintek electric drive vs cable driven. The HCs tend to use the cable systems that are more prone to trouble.

You guys are no help. How do I get the trays? Considering the leak rate it would take a 100 years to fill one. Seems like a great fix but I am only an engineer, not a lawyer,

Sterlingsilver, Although I do not own a unit with cable slides (never would) I suppose you would accept a drip pan fix supplied by your GM/Ford/Ram dealer for your garage floor to catch all the motor oil leaking from your brand new $75k truck ? I don't think so !!!

When I flew airplanes for a living, if it wasn't leaking it was probably out of hydraulic fluid. Included new aircraft.

James, I don't know the answer to that.
Ours was repaired at our SOB Rally, similar to the Montana Rally, with Factory Techs on site, which none of them had a clue about our problem. They came back the next day with 3 or 4 Norco (not Norcold, that's fridges) who is the parent of BAL Auccu-Slide which is the Cable system. Anyway as soon as the slide started going out the Norco Reps all agreed, Bad Motor & Gear Box.
Now who's paying for repairs at a Dealer or Service Center, is a good question. A good Dealer should get reimbursed by Norco, but who's to say they do, but also charge the Customer, thus getting paid twice.

Any luck with Keystone in regards to this, I take mine in on 11-7-18 to my dealer. He has already told me he contacted Keystone and their fix is what all of you said-drip pan and a patch on the membrane and only warranted until 1 year warranty is up which will be Feb of 2019. I guess i'm just looking for ammunition to fight dealer and Keystone. I will contact the Better Business Bureau this week as they are very sympathetic to consumers issues and ask what they recommend we do.

Four outta five are leaking on mine, and is going back to the dealer in a couple weeks. I really do not want a “patch”. But, we will see. What kind of warranty does the roof membrane have on it from the roof manufacturer? Is it the same as the Keystone 1 year warranty?
